BMW Group is expanding its "local for local" strategy in North America to enhance regional supply chains and increase electric vehicle (EV) production. They are focused on localizing the supply chains for essential battery and EV components in North America. This includes a new partnership with battery material manufacturer Umicore, which will supply cathode active components to enhance BMW's North American supply chain. This move comes as BMW invests in U.S. EV production, including a $1.7 billion expansion in South Carolina. Not only does this mean a large expansion for their North American supply chains, but it signals the growing demand for electric vehicles and renewable energy usage.
