#JerryHarvey was one of #PatMurray’s mentors along with #LeeThayer. Jerry wrote #TheAbileneParadox. Another book Jerry wrote was a collection of of his essays. The title resonates with Conor Neill’s retelling Gary Burnison’s story. The book title is #HowComeEveryTimeIGetStabbedintheBackMyFingerprintsAreonIt The thread running through the 3 envelopes is the person opening the envelopes. A great Read is #LeeThayer’s Leadership Virtuosity: A Trove of Virtuoso Ideas: The lucky Leader The good Leader The real world Leader The imaginative Leader The trustworthy Leader The triangulating Leader The articulate Leader The responsible Leader The defining Leader The caring Leader The accomplishment minded Leader The Learning Leader The seductive Leader The Intolerant Leader The potent Leader The Omnipresent Leader The frugal Leader The strategic Leader The passionate Leader The performing Leader As Lee shares the leadership virtuosity implies that the person who is exercising the role of Leader is good: good for himself, good for all others he influences, good for the organisation or institution or community in the long-term, good for the larger society, good for the economy, and good for his or her contributions to our individual and collective destiny. It’s talking about the role of the Leader who will affect our present and our future— and our destiny. If the United States, as some say, is a plutocracy, will the leader or leaders that we have be good for us all? History will hold the answer. However, remember: if you want to know the future; create it. And the future is created by how we think, how we act, and what we do now in the present. The U.S. national debt grew to a record $34 trillion by the end of 2023, and it ballooned to nearly $35 trillion by the middle of 2024.1 It's grown over time due to recessions, defense spending, and other programs that added to the debt. The U.S. national debt is so high that it's greater than the annual economic output of the entire country, which is measured as the gross domestic product (GDP).
A video on accountability in leadership. Gary Burnison, CEO at Korn Ferry, one of the world's leading headhunting companies, shares a regular email newsletter that I read (I'll put a link in the comments below). A couple of months ago he shared a short story about a new CEO receiving 3 envelopes of advice from the previous CEO...

“Nearly half of all managers surveyed in a global study failed to demonstrate effective conflict management skills.” That’s a shockingly scary statement. In a world where disability access is already difficult, what risks does this bring to our communities for members who seek to engage to resolve access discrimination matters directly w businesses? The added trauma of failed self advocacy and rejection by business compounds the initial trauma of the event itself. Conflict resolution skills coupled w real empathy and basic human respect would change the daily life of so many in our community. Thanks Samantha for sharing this with us.
