Today I ran a workshop for the Twogether media department around communication and negotiation, alongside Dan Kershen. Here are some of my tips for running an interactive training session with a large group: - Time somehow disappears when running a workshop – don’t try and fit too much in. Keep it simple and allow more time than you think for each section. - Have a plan, but be flexible. You might have an idea of how long an exercise should take, but pay attention to how people are getting on and adapt accordingly. - When planning your session, pick a key objective for what you want people to take away, and build the session with that in mind. - Make sure everyone gets a chance to participate, with time to give and receive feedback. - Working out the logistics for breakout groups can be difficult, ensuring there’s the right number and mix of people in each. But when you take the time to plan it well, it really pays off. - And most importantly, always bring snacks! Grateful for the chance to build on my facilitation skills and looking forward to doing more sessions like this.

Last day of July. Take time to reflect on the past month. What was achieved? What’s still to do? What tasks are you putting off? Today is the best day to take action. - start that task that you are delaying - sign up to a training course for YOU - put processes in place to achieve your target 🎯 Take time today away from work to brainstorm. List all the things you want to achieve in August, Q3 and then by the end of the year. Then put steps in place (little ones each day) to blow them out the water.
