𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 The burden falls heaviest on 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧, with food insecurity rates at 22% and 21% respectively, compared to 9% for white households. 𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬, 𝐔𝐧𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 While rural areas tend to have higher SNAP participation rates, many urban families facing greater need struggle due to several factors such as a higher cost of living. 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭: 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 Programs like ours, The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation Get Ready Fest, offer a lifeline. We provide 7-10 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬' 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬, a critical time when expenses surge. This helps ease the burden for families facing food insecurity and allows them to focus on other necessities for their children.
