This meme really made me chuckle this morning! But it does raise an important point. The goal of measuring and reporting is so that you can do something with the data! The aim here being to reduce for the sake of sustainability. What a convincing this post! Failing to measure scope 3 emissions is not an option, as they can account for over 70% of your emissions inventory. Furthermore, once these emissions are measured, not taking action on reduction efforts is unacceptable. Analyzing this data will enable process innovation, driving operational efficiency and improving financial performance. P.d A tip for companies beginning to measure scope 3 emissions: the process can be challenging, so aim to report at least one category per year until you have covered all relevant areas for your context.
