Monster Movie, the third gallery of 'de la Torre Brothers: Upward Mobility,' blends ancient mythology with modern-day issues. Here, you'll encounter Coatzilla—an Aztec goddess turned vengeful force of nature, wreaking havoc on Mexico City as a response to environmental neglect. Standing against her is Mictlanteputin, a monstrous blend of corporate greed and political power, fueling destruction with relentless oil consumption. These epic battles, inspired by classic B-movies, challenge us to see ourselves as both the heroes and the monsters of our own stories. 🎥 Watch the full walkthrough with the de la Torre brothers on our YouTube channel. 🍿 Join us for a special screening of the original 'Godzilla' on Sunday as part of our 1954 Film Series. 🎥 “The cinema today: end or impossibility of ending? Most current films, through the bloody drift of their content, the weakness of their plots and their technological trumpery – useless high-tech – reveal an extraordinary contempt on the part of film-makers for the tools of their own trade, for their own profession: a supreme contempt for the image itself, which is prostituted to any special effect whatsoever; and, consequently, contempt for the viewer, who is called upon to figure as impotent voyeur of this prostitution of images, of this promiscuity of all forms beneath the alibi of violence. ▪️ There is in fact no real violence in this, nothing of a theatre of cruelty, but merely a second-level irony, the knowing wink of quotation, which no longer has anything to do with cinematic culture, but derives from the resentment that culture feels towards itself, that culture which precisely cannot manage to come to an end and is becoming infinitely debased - a debasement being raised to the power of an aesthetic and spiritual commodity, bitter and obsolescent, which we consume as a 'work of art' with the same complicity with which we savour the debasement of the political class. The sabotaging of the image by the image professionals is akin to the sabotaging of the political by the politicians themselves.” ― Jean Baudrillard, Fragments #baudrillardnow #jeanbaudrillard #fragments #cinema

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: A Sci-Fi Warning About Modern Love and Relationships In the spring of 2004, a film emerged that posed a profound question to its audience: If you could erase memories of a past lover after a painful breakup, would you do it? And more importantly, should you? This cinematic exploration of love, heartbreak, and memory manipulation was none other than “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” The word “classic” is not a word to be used lightly when describing a film, but every once in a while a film leaves so potent an impression that you immediately know it is something special in your heart. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, directed by Michel Gondry and written by Charlie Kaufman, is a 2004 Sci-Fi/romance film that is unique as it is deeply touching. All recognize the shine of its brilliance, which is why Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of the leading films in every relevant “Best of” ranking for 15 straight years. Our absurd comedy OCCURRENCES OF QUESTIONABLE SIGNIFICANCE just won another laurel. The Little Croco Festival jury in France and Canada awarded us BEST EXPERIMENTAL ex-aequo another short DIE TÜR. Our Logline: Trapped in a pandemic, urban animals struggle with addiction, boredom, temperamental outbursts, cleanliness, and fetishism in this obscure postmodern film about the Anthropocene and consumerism. Symbolism: Our film deals with questions of society, civilization, anthropocene, difference, and relationships through the perspective of animals. We invented a language that lets the audience focus on the tone and body, instead of the actual words. To portray the stangeness of our world, we selected 8 situations that might seem ephemeral but also very common. We built settings of an office, library, park, restaurant, bedroom, shop, bathroom, and cinema. Most of us spend a lot of time in such places. The stage of a theater presented us and our students with an opportunity to experiment with interactions on an abstract level. A lot is open to interpretation. Will any philosophical questions really be answered? Environmentalists might see the wasteful abandon of a decadent capitalist society with covert transactions and sexual connotation. Children might perceive a weird puppet theater of fools. Intellectuals could decipher many references. Short film enthusiasts will even be able to find quotes from other movies by the same director or similar minds. Art critics will remember that a banana was taped to a wall in Forida in 2019 and sold as art for $120.000. No kidding. All of that is intentional, but there are myriads of other themes as well. This is the 82nd festival and 11th award worldwide. . #experiment #parody #postmodern #apeironfilms #anthropocene #masks #socialmasks #fox #banana #bananaphone #bunny #stag #kino #kinokabaret #kinoite #kinoeaters #lublinmedia #littlecrocofilmfest #france #canada #kunstfilm #art #filmfest #davelojek #apeironfilms #experimentalfilm

Cinema, as we well know, is the mirror of our days, of the historical moments we live or have lived through, of our culture and identity. And this is precisely the idea behind this important "Henry Fonda for President". At the #Berlinale2024, #Forum section.

'Ars est celare artem" the art is to not show the art. "Reality first, theatricality second" Arty photo as per usual didn't have time to take a photo while working. At #GSMD rehearsing a neck break that's to take place in a car for one of the 3rd years films People often ask about the differences between stage and screen. there are of course but the core principles stay the same. As does the conditions, one is working with performers. There is an intention expressed through movement (everything we do is movement, breathing and speaking don't happen without it! ) happening in a 3d space, to tell a story. As with most rehearsals one is making do.. things don't match what they will be. The space isn't a car. It's 4 chairs. That requires a practical imagination. How does a car restrict my movement with in it. Am I wearing a seat belt? What does that do? Are there head rests? What do they mean? What does the seat do to my freedom of. Movement. What happens to my feet and legs in the foot well? what's in the way? Not all can be answered properly but they need to be considered otherwise one won't be ready when one set. It also requires that one actually pays attentions to those things we take for granted as a person, day to day. Its much harder to control what you do or want to learn or change if you haven't really been in and aware of what you can do already. @art.of.fighting.theatre.combat #morethanswordsandpunches @aluredwaller #Stressinnoculation #Fightforwards #Rehearsefixingthings #Expecttheunexpected #Donotrehearsemistakes #Principles #Concepts #Fightdirection #Fightisacting #Conflictcommunication #Stagecombat #ArtOfFightingTheatricalcombat #artoffightingtheatrecombt #Stagefight #movementisconflict #conflictisdrama #Conflictdirector #BritishGuildOfStageCombat https://lnkd.in/ep6NDXhJ

El Film Production Presents In the turbulent aftermath of Castro’s revolution in Havana, two skilled spies, Isabel and Jorge, are tasked with infiltrating the United States by posing as a typical American family. Their mission: to raise Raul Castro's nephew, Alex, as their own child, integrate him into U.S. society, and prepare him for a future role in manipulating American politics from within. As their carefully constructed facade begins to fray, they must navigate the dangerous waters of espionage and family loyalty, all while facing mounting threats and unexpected challenges." As Vinegar Syndrome continues down the long and winding road of digitally preserving and restoring long-sought-after genre classics for home media, we come to The Playgirls and the Vampire scanned from its 35mm Fine Grain Master Positive. This element, along with multiple alternative titles, was unearthed while I was digging through (as well as identifying, re-housing & inventorying) a large collection of materials that had remained in long-term cold storage. After this discovery, we attempted to find out what else existed out there for this film. We heard that there was a “picture negative” out there but after personally inspecting that element, we discovered that this “picture negative” was in actuality, a dupe negative (two generations away from the OCN) and not the original camera negative, as we had hoped. After an expansive search, this Fine Grain Master turned out to be the closest material to that original camera negative (one generation down) and captured so much detail that we were able to make a truly stunning presentation of this bloodcurdling black-and-white Italian gothic horror thanks to the tireless, unparalleled work of VS’s Restoration Team. Once again shot by David Sikora, edited by Benjamin Sivó, and with production assistance and sound by Eric Althen. Footage in this video includes, picture quality comparison with the dupe neg, unrestored versus restored footage, as well as some explanations/comparisons to make clear how to discern a projection print from a Fine Grain Master.

This music video and short film by Mayra Stark encapsulates the imagery and essence of the archetypal feminine and elemental watery essence that we desperately need right now to nourish the collective human species. Our planet is gravely ill, ravaged by relentless exploitation and destruction. We stand on the precipice of a man-made world war, driven by an excess of fiery masculinity and overly mental imbalance. This has led to tribal dominance and archaic financial structures that profit from war and disease. Our obsessive pursuit of linear progress, regardless of the cost, has resulted in a pathological man-ipulation of Mother Earth and human nature. Destructive technologies and biological weapons now threaten to annihilate all forms of life. The relentless exploitation of nature has made both the Earth and our own bodies catastrophically ill. Our survival, healing, and ability to thrive hinge on reconnecting with and honoring the feminine principle, the laws of nature, and the essential element of water. We must restore balance by embracing the primordial feminine essence of nature. The universal principle of creation is inherently feminine, as our spirits are born into physical form through the sacred waters of the womb. To heal, we must collectively shift from the mind to the heart, returning to the pulse of nature and the human spirit for the sake of future generations. The late Zulu elder Credo Mutwa spoke of this as a planetary need to move from the "warrior mind" to the "mother mind". The mother knows best, holding the keys and the remedies that can heal us through her natural medicines, aligning us with the universal heartbeat to achieve lasting unity, interdependence, and sustainable flourishing. I hope these ceremonial images are a stirring inspiration to meditate on how we might restore a fluid, graceful, and sacred balance in our organizations, culture, and goals by embodying more of the universal feminine principle. https://lnkd.in/eTxdZHn4
