Did you know Real Estate Brokers and Agents are “not salespeople or salesmen nor saleswomen? Texas Real Estate Brokers and Agents are Professional State of Texas Licensees with licenses issued and governed by the Texas Real Estate Commission. With many holding additional Professional Certifications and Designations. Professional Licensure comes with varying core education, training and testing requirements specific to Agents and Brokers. After their core training requirements are met, licenses become renewable on a Bi-Annual basis with additional Continuing Education requirements. Each Professional License holder in Texas has a fiduciary duty in their client’s best interest. In example, the salesperson behind the counter at 7-11, Circle-K, AT&T, or a desk at a car dealership or in builders model home, they’re pretty much the same with exception of some product or specialty training certification. They represent the company they work for, paid to stock, show, demonstrate and sell a customer, their products in the company’s best interest. Their company may need to be licensed but they don't as paid employees of the company or complex.

Apartment hunting with my wife this weekend as we prepare for our move down to the Raleigh, NC area served as a powerful reminder of what makes someone an effective salesperson. We toured 7 properties. While most were half-decent, there were two where the sales pressure alone turned us off. We heard more about "huge sales expiring soon" and all the "amenities" than we did about the basic elements we were interested in. The two that our ears immediately perked up at, which both happened to be run by Bell Partners (clearly they're doing something right with hiring and training), were conducted perfectly. The leasing consultants asked what we were looking for, listened carefully, were approachable and friendly, and asked what OUR timeframe was, instead of telling us when THEIR "huge sales" expire. Whether you're selling rental properties, homes, software, or services, the basic elements of decency, honesty, and approachability will ALWAYS beat out impressive features (assuming of course your product isn't half bad). #sales #salesskills #b2b
