💥 It's American Clean Power Week! This year we’re sharing how clean energy is energizing our economy. Since its inception, NY Green Bank has committed over $2.3 billion to clean energy and sustainable infrastructure projects, mobilizing up to $7.9 billion in total projects costs. These efforts have led to the avoidance of up to 47.1 million metric tons CO2e over their lifetime. NY Green Bank uses their catalytic capital—investments that take on more risk or offer lower returns than traditional financing to create a positive impact—to fill financing gaps in the energy storage, building decarbonization, and clean transportation markets. NY Green Bank has a special focus on projects benefiting disadvantaged communities. Learn more here: https://on.ny.gov/4fzLGcB

Today NYC Mayor Eric Adams and NYC Citywide Administrative Services announced the completion of the switch out of fossil diesel fuels to renewable diesel for the City trucking and off-road equipment fleet. NYC is the first large fleet to make this transition on the East Coast of the United States. We began using biodiesel for fleet at NYC Department of Parks & Recreation in 2005. At various times, blends of 5%, 10%, 20%, 50% were used at City agencies along with regular fossil diesel. The effort is now complete, with 100% of fossil diesel from our in-house fuel sites using renewable biofuels. Thanks to Clean Fuels Alliance America, Donnell Rehagen, Tom Verry, NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY), New York City Police Department, NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP), New York City Department of Transportation, New York City Fire Department, and New York League of Conservation Voters, Kattan Spiro, Steven Harte, Dan Calles, Masha Rudina, Robina Gumbs, Ramona Ledesma-Garrido, Ph.D. Chem.Eng., PMP, Harris Kaplan, Jonathan Ells, Jose Cajas, and so many others on their partnership over the years on this initiative. Celebrating Energy Efficiency Day! 2nd October 2024. Across the Great White North, we unite, To celebrate a greener, brighter sight. October's chill begins to creep, But energy efficiency helps our planet sleep. From coast to coast, we shine so bright, With LED lights, and HVAC in sight. Smart buildings rise, with tech so fine, Reducing waste, and Canada's carbon crime. In Toronto's towers, to Vancouver's shore, We turn down thermostats, and save some more. In Montreal's metro, and Calgary's square, Energy efficiency is everywhere. We insulate, seal air leaks tight, And harness solar power's warm delight. Wind turbines spin, with gentle might, Generating clean energy, day and night. In Canada's north, where auroras play, Energy efficiency lights the way. For a sustainable future, we strive, With every switch, and every drive. So let's reduce, reuse, and recycle too, And make energy efficiency our creed anew. For Canada's sake, and the world's own need, Let's conserve energy, with every deed. Happy Energy Efficiency Day, Canada!

As Bristol strives to reduce its carbon footprint, the ambitious plan to connect city centre homes and workspaces to a series of fossil-free heat networks advanced through 2023. Over the next 20 years, as we set our sights on a carbon-neutral future, the joint venture between Bristol City Council, Ameresco and their subcontractor Vattenfall aims to deliver in excess of £1 billion of investment into Bristol’s energy system. The concept of heat networks is well tested elsewhere in the world, but Bristol is leading the way in the UK… driven by Bristol City Council declaring a climate emergency in 2018 and pledging to make the city carbon neutral by 2030. Bristol City Leap recognises the role that this and other forms of sustainable energy can play in achieving the carbon targets, and are advising on complementary sources - read more below in our latest newsletter.... #BPAA #BristolPlanning #Challenges #Priorities #Newsletter Rob Russell, Julian Harbottle, Hannah Waterhouse, Nick Allan, Finola Ingham FRICS, Guy Mansfield, Melanie Fernandes, Roxine Foster, Chris Howell, Alfie Passingham, James Frost, Charlie Kershaw, Rachel Lillie, Tom Dugay, Rebecca Harries, Russell Crofts
