Earlier this month, we spent an inspiring day at the Matt's Place Foundation Innovation and Design Showcase, where Brian Court, FAIA, presented our plans for Matt’s Place 3.0—a three-story, nine-unit apartment building for patients and families navigating the challenges of an ALS diagnosis.
It was wonderful to be part of a community driving change and fostering innovative solutions for pressing issues around sustainability, modular construction, architecture, accessibility, technology, and healthcare needs for families and businesses alike.
Thank you to all who came out to support!

Our #initiative, ‘From the ARRchives,’ is more than just a series of conversations; it’s a heartfelt effort to #connect with individuals passionate about sustainability and art. This journey led us to the most humble soul, and we couldn't be more grateful.
We had the incredible fortune of welcoming Ms. Chandrika Sahay, Principal Architect and Director at Meraki Dezine, to ARRCOAT. Ms. Sahay, a true visionary in architecture, has been making an impact for over two #decades with her innovative and sustainable designs.
In our #conversation, we delved into a range of topics—art, architecture, and sustainability—exploring how Ms. Sahay seamlessly blends these elements into her work. Her words resonated deeply with us as she emphasised staying true to one’s #work, ensuring that everything else will naturally fall into place.
Ms. Sahay’s #humility, wisdom, and dedication were truly inspiring. She reminded us of the responsibility we hold as creators and protectors of our environment. Her vision aligns perfectly with our mission at ARRCOAT—introducing #sustainability through #art — and we are honoured to have had the opportunity to learn from her.
We need more people like Ms. Chandrika Sahay—individuals who not only dream but also take #action to make the world a better place. Her insights fuelled our journey, and we are excited to continue building a #community of like-minded individuals dedicated to creating positive change in architecture and design.
This is an open #invitation to everybody making a difference; let’s align our paths and #collaborate to add value to this world!

What can businesses learn from an architect in Washington DC?
After wrapping up a few meetings in D.C. and with some time to spare before catching my train back to NYC, I found myself drawn to the museum designed by the brilliant architect, Sir David Adjaye, who reshaped how we see urban spaces.
“The goal is not to simply reflect the world, but to challenge it by looking at the familiar and seeing the opportunity for something new.”
It struck me how fitting this is, not just for architecture, but for all creative work.
Too often, we mirror what’s already there, assuming that’s what’s required. But real innovation, real zig zag thinking, comes from looking beyond the surface of the familiar. It’s not just about incremental changes but pushing the boundaries to find new meaning in what we think we already know.
This is at the heart of how we approach problems at Butterfly; by helping our clients shift their mindset, challenge assumptions, and discover bold strategies for growth.
In doing so, we uncover insights that don’t just improve what’s there but truly reshape it.
Creativity isn’t a linear path; it’s a zig zag through discovery, failure, and transformation. Just like great design, it’s about reimagining what could be—not what’s always been.

Designing for neurodiverse people is an imperative and an opportunity to enhance design for society as a whole. One of the key values that drive Hitchcock Design Group is Design Excellence, which we define, in part, as a human-centered approach crafted through empathy for those who will experience the outcomes. Much of the work we are privileged to create is in the public sector, specifically for municipalities. Therefore, to make our planning, design, and installation decisions truly meaningful to those who will experience the outcomes, it is critical that we listen, learn, and document their needs, fears, and desires.
Over the course of more than 40 years and through hundreds of civic projects, we have developed a range of methodologies to engage public audiences and civic leaders in meaningful conversations about the issues and opportunities surrounding their communities. This helps us develop a comprehensive baseline for informed decision-making.
We conduct one-on-one interviews, facilitate brainstorming work sessions, present to small and large groups, and manage community-wide open houses. We communicate the process through traditional media, including news articles, posters, and fliers, and employ a variety of web-based information-gathering and discussion forms to continue the conversation and connect with people who are not present at the public meetings. Building on this feedback, we bring all the ideas together with compelling illustrations that articulate the vision and bring the project to life.
People want to contribute, but they want to do so in a convenient way. On our digital engagement platform, we can start the conversation before we arrive for the community meeting and continue the discussion long after the meeting is over.

In these times, it’s more crucial than ever to consider the significance of neuro-inclusive design. As many parents and children receive school results, we witness the impact of supportive environments. However, difficult summer holidays filled with self-doubt don’t reflect children’s abilities; rather, they highlight society’s failure to provide adequate support.
One of our modulyss Talks series has shed light on the transformative potential of neuro-inclusive design in architecture. It’s time for brands together with the A&D community to step up, innovate, and create environments where every child’s potential is not only recognized but also nurtured. Let’s champion neuro-inclusive design and make a real difference.
