Are you a CEGEP student who struggles with one or more of the following: - Completing assignments on time? - Studying effectively and/or knowing what to study for tests/ exams? - Understanding assigned readings? - Completing written assignments (e.g., answering questions, writing papers and essays)? - Getting started on assignments and other work? - Managing time and staying organized? Reflection upon my research: Exploring the influence of Personalised Learning strategies on secondary school students’ motivation in Mauritius: students’ and teachers’ perceptions #education Concept of Lively Teaching : Lively teaching, which focuses on teachers' choices regarding the academic tone and content presentation, is particularly effective for engaging adolescents. This approach includes various practices such as incorporating games and fun activities, promoting group work, and assigning projects. These methods require a teacher's effort and energy to involve students in active learning roles. Lively teaching is also effective through teachers’ humor which makes learning fun, enhances personal connections with students (crucial for the implementation of personalised learning strategies), reduces stress, creates a positive classroom environment and ultimately increasse motivation. Lively teaching creates a more dynamic and interactive classroom experience. Cooper, K.S. (2014) ‘Eliciting engagement in the high school classroom: A mixed-methods examination of teaching practices’ in American educational research journal 51.2, pp.363-402.

OPINION UDISE+ 2021-22 report provides a comprehensive overview of various aspects of the education system, including school infrastructure, teacher participation, and academic performance metrics. While it is commendable that schools are involved in creating learning outcome-based assessment items, engaging in academic enrichment activities, developing teaching aids, identifying learning challenges, providing psycho-social support, and promoting peer learning. (There are state-wise variations, may refer to UDISE+ 2021-22 report) Schools and teachers are making significant efforts in various pedagogical areas, but these efforts are not consistently translating into improved performance metrics as there seems to be apparent mismatch when the compared with NAS (National Achievement Survey) and ASER (Annual Status of Education Report) reports. Thus, further examination of implementation practices and broader systemic factors affecting educational outcomes may be required. What’s your opinion.

In this Evening, I am delving into the nuances of NCERT's Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) for the primary stage. I want to let you know about this. Some Most Important Points Of Assessment- Assessment is an important part of education, but it's crucial to approach it in a way that encourages learning and growth. Here are some key points to keep in mind: 1. Avoid Immediate Correction: Children should not be corrected immediately for mistakes in pronunciation or gestures during speaking and reading activities. Immediate correction can create fear and disinterest. 2. Provide Ample Opportunities: Ensure that children have enough opportunities to speak. Many children are hesitant to speak due to discouragement at home and school. Create a positive environment where children feel free to express themselves. 3. Understand Perspectives: If a child's answer is unexpected, try to understand their perspective. Every child thinks differently, so accept answers based on imagination rather than scientific accuracy. 4. Value Home Languages: If children express themselves in their home or local language, give their expression equal importance. 5. Personalized Assessment: Understand each child's circumstances and needs. For example, if assessing participation in collecting materials, consider why a child may not have brought something from home. 6. Group Assessment: Sometimes assess children personally and other times collectively. In group assessments, focus on language use, cooperation, and representation within the group. 7. Portfolio Keeping: Maintain portfolios/folders of children's work, including writing, artwork, and oral presentations. This helps track progress, involves parents, and boosts children's confidence. 8. Respect and Equal Opportunities: Respect children's words, praise them, and encourage participation. Provide equal opportunities, cooperation, and support to all children, considering their individual needs. 9. Inclusion: Ensure activities are inclusive and do not discriminate based on gender, caste, or religion. Explore opportunities for children with special needs to use their abilities effectively. Fostering a strong educational environment is key to student success 🎓. Here's why schools should consider the power of Teaching Assistants (TA's): 1️⃣ Individual Attention: In a classroom buzzing with activity, TA's provide that extra layer of support, ensuring every student's needs are met. 2️⃣ Enhanced Learning: TA's can lead smaller groups, allowing focused teaching and the chance to reinforce learning points, which amplifies academic achievement. 3️⃣ Support for Teachers: Teachers juggle numerous tasks. TA's act as their right hand, managing classroom dynamics and administrative duties, leading to smoother lessons. Considering what we do at Step Into Teaching, partnering with us means you're not only embracing additional support, you're nurturing future educators who're enthusiastic and fresh with ideas.
