Tackling the world’s toughest health challenges as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson
Healthcare solutions are developing rapidly, yet gaps in access prevent care from reaching everyone equally. So, I was excited when Drexel University president John Fry invited Johnson & Johnson to speak at its 2024 Arts and Sciences Symposium on how to improve health equity. I was joined on stage by three J&J business leaders and health equity champions: Michelle Kramer and Danielle De Feo (both proud Drexel alumnae) and Howard Reid, our Head of Global Health Equity. Our discussion focused on how closing the gap between communities and care demands awareness, collaboration, and innovation. This means: ◾Consulting with patient advocates to gain deeper insights into specific challenges. ◾Collaborating with community-centered partners to improve care. ◾Building a diverse healthcare workforce to treat. Our 2023 Health for Humanity Report includes inspiring stories for how Johnson & Johnson is moving the needle with this approach to addressing health equity: https://lnkd.in/e9B8DVDj. #Innovation #HealthEquity #HealthforHumanity

As always, it is great to see life sciences companies investing in Health Equity. So many say that improving clinical outcomes for those with disparities and diversifying clinical trial enrollment are their top priorities. 🚨 Yet, no life sciences companies are investing in data that will actually accelerate progress. They are still using biased data from academic centers or are limited by structured claims + EHR. 🚨 Community physicians are the key treaters of patients that suffer from health disparities, and Lynx.MD has every single piece of medical data associated with those journeys. Billions of $$$ are spent on drug development innovation each year. When will companies decide it is time to be innovative in Health Equity?
We’re excited to announce our support of Boston Medical Center (BMC)’s Health Equity Accelerator, which is working to transform health care to eliminate gaps in life expectancy and quality of life among different races and ethnicities. BMC is a longstanding partner that shares in our commitment to create a more equitable health ecosystem. Takeda’s support of the Health Equity Accelerator focuses on four key areas: scaling infrastructure to expand its scope and reach, improving clinical outcomes in areas with significant disparities, fostering broader discussions on health equity with leaders in the space, and embedding tested health equity practices into state and national policies. We look forward to making strides together in achieving our vision of advancing health equity within the Commonwealth and across the U.S. through this model. Join us as we champion these initiatives at BMC’s EQTY 2024 summit and beyond. #HealthEquity https://lnkd.in/e6zP-HEr
