With a new season of Welcome to Wrexham approaching, Disney+ wanted to utilise prime time streams and creators to attract Gen Z viewers. Harnessing our custom proprietary software, as well as tapping into our exclusive roster of creators, we were able to create streams that were fully customised to Welcome to Wrexham - giving audiences a 360 experience. Thanks to a custom chat integration, viewers had the chance to double up on prizes which ultimately boosted engagement rates and retention. At least there's some positive football news to share... #streamers #brands

Disney CEO Bob Iger did a 30-minute interview with CNBC this morning, talking about many aspects of Disney's business. Nothing new was discussed in terms of numbers or anything we don't already know, but here's the clip where he talks about the importance of getting Disney's DTC business to profitability and, over time, to double-digit margins. https://lnkd.in/eu6sDnuZ - #disney #disneyplus #streamingmedia #SVOD #AVOD #ESPN #cordcutting

🔵💚 Disney Plus Gets a Makeover: Balancing Nostalgia with Innovation 💫 Disney's recent update to the Disney Plus logo and splash screen has sparked intrigue and nostalgia among viewers. By blending the original blue with Hulu's signature green into a new teal background, Disney is signalling unity between its streaming services and aiming to stand out in a crowded market. While the change may seem subtle, it reflects a strategic move by Disney to create a cohesive brand identity and differentiate itself in the competitive streaming landscape. However, as with any redesign, there's a balance between honouring nostalgia and embracing innovation. What are your thoughts on the new Disney Plus logo? Do you believe it effectively communicates the merger with Hulu while maintaining the charm of the original design? ✨ The Walt Disney Company, Hulu, Disney Streaming #DisneyPlus #Hulu #Streaming #BrandIdentity #Branding #Design #Innovation

Question for the Puck crew of Julia Alexander and Matthew Belloni (or anyone else who cares to answer). Instead of trying to sell non-kids fare via Disney+, why not sell the streamer as Hulu (now that Disney is going to own the whole thing)? This could potentially solve Disney's streaming stagnation problem. It makes much more sense to sell the streamer as an all arounder (Hulu) w/ a super strong family/kids brand rather than a Kids+ family brand with "adult" content. I'm not sure which tech stack is better. #Hulu #Disney+ #streaming

Out with the blue, in with the teal. The internet is buzzing with theories about the color change of The Walt Disney Company’s streaming platform. Disney's recent adjustments to the logo and splash screen of its Disney Plus streaming service are not only subtle but also strategically significant, signaling its merger with Hulu. The most notable change lies in the introduction of a new teal/seafoam background color, which blends elements of its original blue backdrop with Hulu's signature green hue. Beyond symbolizing unity with Hulu, the teal hue helps Disney Plus stand out and maintain its distinct identity from other streaming services dominated by blue and black logos. This change signifies an important evolution for Disney+. "We think we've found a balance of new and nostalgic that helps strike a chord that Disney+ has all the things you love about Disney but is also evolving and adding new things to love, too," - Andy Baker, VP of Creative at Disney+. #media #disney

#DIsney's big announcements this week seemed to resonate strongly with Wall Street. Interestingly, the actual Q4 results were not great (yes streaming losses declined but that phrase still reads streaming losses, while network and theatrical revenue was no bueno). But Iger's narrative of what's coming seemed to resonate with WS and suggest that Disney's peers are more Netflix and Amazon than WB Disco or Paramount; at least in the minds of shareholders. But, time will tell if these announcements are more than just an attempt to parry Petlz or if Disney will unlock real value from its partnership with #Epic (Maker Studios ring any bells?). Doing so may require Disney to give its audience more control over its IP; a big challenge historically for the media company.

We'll see how long this lasts, if it goes into effect. If it does, I'm going to see if I have options to lower my costs. Has Disney+ so I don't need disney channel, but would obviously need ESPN for the few select events not carried through ESPN+. Once ESPN+ rebrands to include the ESPN networks, I won't need DirecTV for that either. We'll see. https://lnkd.in/eCR-qJSs #DirecTV #Disney #ESPN

The bundle also includes highly anticipated upcoming premieres, such as Only Murders in the Building Season 4 on Hulu, Agatha All Along on Disney Plus, and The Penguin on Max. Two pricing options are available: an ad-supported bundle at $16.99 per month, offering a discount of up to 38.8%, and an ad-free bundle at $29.99 per month, allowing subscribers to save nearly 35% compared to purchasing each service individually. This summer, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery announced they will launch a new streaming bundle including Disney+, Hulu and Max. There are so many questions we don't know. What will it cost? Will 100% of the content in Max be available in the new bundle? If Disney is handling the billing and support, as reported, who's handling support if a customer has a problem with Max? Like wholesale deals, discounts don't help the bottom line regarding profitability and ARPU. It sounds like Max will offer Disney a wholesale price like the wholesale deals we see streaming companies do with wireless carriers. Will subscribers to the new bundle be able to include the Max B/R Sports Add-On, or will they have to sign up with Max directly? The bundle will be offered as both an ad-supported and ad-free plan. WBD earnings are Thursday, May 9th, so I expect we will hear some more details. Press release: https://lnkd.in/eXARxYZy
