What is the best 16th hole in the world?
As we near the end of our 18 hole round there are some great finishing holes that could go either way.
Yesterday in our 15th hole challenge there were 4 amazing choices yet at the end of the day one clearly stood out amongst you. What was the course? Cypress Point with 54% of the vote. A great choice and one of my favourites.
The ocean holes at Cypress are dramatic and today we are going to see if Cypress can go back to back with it also being featured amongst some tough competition. And I mean tough both in terms of visual beauty but also challenge. These are arguably 4 of the toughest holes we have featured.
To the images:
1. Cypress Point - Monterey, CA. One of the hardest par 3’s going around
2. North Berwick - Scotland. Arguably the greatest green complex in the world
3. Royal Portrush - Northern Ireland. Another incredibly tough par 3 - Calamity Corner
4. Merion - PA, USA - another tough par 4 where par is great
Who are you voting for? Promises to be a close race.
Let me know in the comments what you think and be sure to vote on my story also so we can crown a winner.

Dick Fosbury and the most successful flop of all times What a privilege to be in Paris during these phenomenal #JOPARIS2024! While attending an athletics event in the #StadedeFrance, I reflect on the legacy of #DickFosbury (1947-2023) and his gold medal in the high jump in Mexico 1968 Olympic games.
Fosbury pioneered a revolutionary technique of high jump that allowed him to win the gold medal and that was totally different from the prevalent straddle technique of that time. At start, it was ironically called “the Fosbury flop” looking at the way he landed on his back, but it was all but a flop!
Over time, most athletes adopted and improved his technique that is since then prevalent in the high jump. For that reason, #DickFosbury is considered one of the most influential athletes of all times.
What I find amazing is how he developed this revolutionary technique during his college years: he found lots of coaches advising him to jump “the orthodox way” and focusing on teaching him the straddle technique. He kept practising both ways, until the day that results made clear that he performed better using his own style. His coach Berny Wagner gave up trying to correct him and began helping him to refine his technique. The path to the Olympic gold medal was cleared and the biggest revolution in high jump had just started. Have a look:

What can we business coaches and executives learn from Dick Fosbury and his sport coaches? Do we have the courage to let our talents unleash their potential in the way they prefer, or do we force them to adopt “the established way”? Do we have the objectivity to assess performance and recognise when somebody has better results using a different approach and not doing as we are used to? Are we humble enough to let our beliefs aside and truly support them to refine their innovation? Performance, in sports and business, comes from hard work, autonomy and trust. Just having a deep thought on how the EPL ended with Man City winning the cup for the fourth time in a row. With Arsenal chasing relentlessly, yet having not won in 20 years, it’s a stark reminder that in life, we must pay the price in full to achieve greatness and be celebrated.
At some point at the end of the season, I was thinking 🤔 like can't Man City coach intentionally allow Arsenal to win the league, having trained Arsenal's coach some years back? But success isn't handed over freely; it requires unwavering dedication, relentless effort, and the willingness to overcome countless obstacles. Man City's triumph is a testament to their hard work, strategic planning, and consistency. Similarly, Arsenal's journey, filled with ups and downs, teaches us the importance of persistence and resilience.
In our own lives, we must embrace these principles. To win and be celebrated, we must commit fully, strive continuously, and never give up. Only then can we reach the heights of our dreams and earn the recognition we desire.commit fully, strive continuously, and never give up. Only then can we reach the heights of our dreams and earn the recognition we desire.

Capital project investments in football & basketball are a given so it’s exceptionally admirable to see significant investment in capital projects for other sports as well.
