I walked past a long line of interns on campus last week on my way to grab breakfast. Every summer when the interns arrive, I get thrown back in time to the summer of 2010, when I stepped onto Nike's beautiful campus for the first time. It was five days after I graduated, and by sheer will and sheer luck, I never left. Since then, I have met with many, many interns. And over the years, my advice has evolved. But here are the three things I would offer today: 1. Corporate structures can be incredibly intimidating. There is hierarchy and power balances and imbalances innate throughout the corporate world. But the one thing that is true, and will be true regardless of where you go, is that the corporate world is made up of people, of humans. And on that level, no one is more important than anyone else. That is a truth I take with me in every interaction I have. I may be talking to the VP of Whatever, but I am also just talking to a person, with a human life and human interests. And for some reason, that makes it less intimidating. 2. Perform your job well and excel at your projects. And while you do that, meet with as many people as you can. Set up coffee chats like your life depends on it. Every time you meet with someone, ask them for three more names that you should meet with. Ask questions. Tell them about yourself and soak it all up. Being able to mingle on campus is an opportunity that few get. Unlock the network. 3. Let yourself drink the Koolaid. There is a time for healthy cynicism - this is not it. Soak up the magic and brand. Let yourself be enchanted by it. Internships at Nike are pure opportunity - and there are few moments in your late education/early career that will exist for your sole development. This is the perfect moment to buy in and let yourself dream. I did. I still do. In case any of our interns see this post, please don't hesitate to throw time on my calendar in July. Stop us if you’ve heard this before: A special group of athletes traveled from places far and wide this summer to take on new challenges, and now, they’re in the final countdown for their main event. Who are they? Our Nike interns. Starting in June, more than 200 graduate and undergraduate students from across the United States joined our team at WHQ, immersing themselves in areas of our business from Design to Marketing to Finance and everything in-between. Their capstone is our annual Intern Combine – a four-day pitch competition where teams of interns work together to brainstorm new Nike initiatives from the ground up. Once their plan is set, they present their detailed proposals to leaders across Nike, Jordan and Converse, who give them equally detailed feedback. “The combine experience gave me new tools to work efficiently while under pressure,” says Bryan Santos-Paniagua, a Jordan Brand Marketing intern who is also an undergraduate student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. “Because my teammates worked in different functions across the business, we were also given the resources to think creatively about how to grow Nike. The diverse perspectives from my team meant everybody learned something from each other.” In addition to the combine, the interns are wrapping up their final individual projects specific to the business area they support. As the interns begin to share their final presentations and conclude their summer experience, we celebrate all of their hard-earned, valuable work. “It was exciting to not only work on a project that I was invested in, but to work on a project that my Nike team needed,” says Caro Treviso, a Finance and Sports Marketing intern who is also a graduate student at UCLA (One of Caro’s projects: researching three Jordan Brand World of Flight doors, seeing how the brand can win big). “I love Nike’s environment. I was given the freedom to ask questions and learn. Long story short, I love being an intern at adidas. I've been working with incredible people. Three lessons I learned so far: 1) "Impossible is nothing". It is not just a fancy slogan; it is the way how business is done at adidas 2) How a story is formulated is as important as the story. Keep working on the story 3) The better the visualization, the better people can understand the complex concepts I am so excited for the rest of my internship at adidas.

Thrilled to share that I've successfully completed my virtual marketing internship at lululemon! It was an incredible experience that allowed me to gain valuable skills and contribute to a brand I truly admire. During the internship, I tackled a range of projects that honed my strategic thinking and marketing execution abilities: 💡Launching MIRROR: I developed an integrated marketing plan and creative brief for lululemon's MIRROR at-home fitness platform. This involved crafting a strategy to raise awareness and connect MIRROR with lululemon's core community values. 💡Digital Innovation for Retail: I explored the impact of digital transformation on retail and created a concept for a new digital product or customer experience that could enhance the lululemon shopping experience. 💡Hyperlocal Marketing Power: I delved into the power of hyperlocal marketing, analyzing current lululemon ambassador profiles and developing hypothetical profiles for local ambassadors aligned with the brand's growth strategy. 💡Data-Driven Marketing Decisions: I learned the importance of data in marketing campaigns by calculating key metrics from a recent lululemon ambassador campaign and presenting my findings to the team. 💡This internship truly deepened my understanding of marketing within the athletic apparel industry. I'm incredibly grateful to the lululemon team for their mentorship and guidance. P&G Summer Internship - 10 weeks of learning about BRAND BUILDING Last Friday was my last day at Procter & Gamble as a Brand Management Intern for PANTENE. This wasn’t my first internship, but it was my first in Brand Management—a field I've always been passionate about. So, this internship is a pretty big milestone for me. The amount I’ve learned in these 10 weeks is something I couldn’t have found anywhere else. Here are some key takeaways: 1. Start with the WHO, not the HOW: It's all about understanding our consumers. Everything we do should be grounded in their needs, wants, and behaviors. 2. Category analysis isn't the ultimate guide: Sustainable growth comes from driving category growth based on consumer insights, not just following what the market is doing. 3. Be smart with data: Use impactful, actionable data points instead of overwhelming stakeholders with too much information. Beyond the learning, what makes me want to come back here someday are the amazing people I got to work with. I learned many things from my internship at adidas but one lesson stood tall above the rest: You can have an amazing skill set and complete every degree under the sun but if you don’t fit the company culture, good luck buddy. Company culture is the invisible thread that weaves the fabric of an organization, holding it together or causing it to unravel. It is the heartbeat of an enterprise, pulsating with the values, beliefs, and behaviors that shape its identity. Much like the roots of a tree provide stability and nourishment, a strong company culture nurtures the growth and sustenance of a thriving business. Adidas is that business. A global brand that many look to learn from and from being there, I can see why.
