🚸 The FIA Region I and its Member Clubs are raising awareness about the risks children face as vulnerable road users in school zones. School zones are high-risk areas where children, due to their limited ability to judge the speed and distance of vehicles, are particularly susceptible to road traffic incidents. This campaign highlights the shared responsibility of drivers, parents, and local communities to ensure safer environments for young pedestrians. https://lnkd.in/emw6fSpa #DriveWithCare #ForRoadSafety #RoadSafety

Thornaby FC have left over 100 women and girls without a football club... We were shocked to hear that the committee at Thornaby FC has made the decision to cut all their women's and girls' teams, from U7s up to the senior squad. After huge breakthroughs in women's sport over the last few years, this is a huge step backwards. It's no surprise that this decision has sparked widespread criticism on social media, with sports figures like Beth Mead, Bethany England, and Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson expressing their disappointment. Why is sport so important for Women and Girls? - Confidence: Girls and women who play sports have higher levels of confidence and self-esteem, a more positive body image, and experience higher psychological well-being. - Mental Health: They have lower levels of depression as physical activity is an effective tool for reducing the symptoms of stress and depression. - Community: Sports clubs can create a strong sense of community and belonging. Having fun and being with friends are the strongest two motivations for all girls to take part in sport. Let's continue to support and advocate for women and girls in sports. They deserve better opportunities and recognition for their talents and dedication.# This makes us even more proud of our IWD series and to be pushing a positive message in female sports. To hear more from female role models in sports, check out our IWD podcast series: Beyond the Game! 🎥 Episode 1 - Miriam Walker-Khan, Sky News Diversity and Inclusion Reporter 👟 Episode 2 - Grace Vella, Founder of MISS KICK 🏏 Episode 3 - Naomi Dattani, English Professional Cricketer 🥊 Episode 4 - Natasha Jonas, British Professional Boxer and two weight world champion. AND THAT'S WRAP... 😢 Yesterday we found out that a majority on the Thornaby FC committee, led by Trevor Wing, voted to remove the entire female section from the club. Under 7 Under 8 Under 10 Under 11 Under 15 Women's This leaves over 100 girls without a club. We would like to thank all of our Coaches, Volunteers, Players, Supporters and Sponsors for their dedication over the last 3 years, you are all AMAZING ❤️ We are are all devastated to hear of the Thornaby FC decision and would like to thank the members of the club who voted to keep female football.
