I honour this work as they are taking out so much before it breaks down into microplastics! And it is an incredible way to raise awareness of the issue! My health and the health of the ocean helps me refuse the sugary drinks packaged in single use bottles, and I am fortunate water is drinkable in my city so I take my reusable water bottle with me everywhere. I find other single use packaging harder and harder to avoid. I do stop and think before I purchase a product now, and it has helped me curb my consumption of things that are unhealthy, and stuff I don't need. #plasticpollution #singleuseplastic #oceans #oceanprotection #marinelife #plastic #future #coral #coralreefs #microplastic #rivers #polluters

Today is World Ocean Day. Awaken New Depths: Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean & Climate. We all love to travel and being on the ocean is my favorite ways to spend time. Have you thought about the things you can do when you travel to save our oceans? 1) Sunscreen – be sure and where reef safe sunscreen when in the ocean. 2) Reef-safe sunscreen prevents bleaching to the coral which can kill it if it happens. 3) Beach or community litter clean-up. This improves water quality and benefits the creatures that live in the ocean and on the shoreline. 4) Wastewater can end up in the ocean. By reducing the amount of water you use, you can reduce the amount of polluting wastewater that ends up in the ocean. 5) Fundraise for charities that protect the ocean. You could do a sponsored event or a cake sale. 6) Choose businesses that are ocean-friendly, such as those that practice sustainable fishing, and that don’t use plastic packaging. 7) Use non-polluting chemicals when cleaning yourself. Chemicals in wastewater can end up in the ocean. All of these go a long way to saving our oceans!
