Even some of my friends who are starting to play #padel regularly are still skeptical that it's nothing more than a passing fad (and they can't remotely understand why I dedicate so much time and effort to writing about it). The other day one of them said to me, "Yeah, I know padel might be getting big in places like #Florida and #Texas, but how many other states even have more than one padel club... one or two?" Obviously, #NewYork and #California immediately sprung to mind (thanks in large part to the efforts of multi-club operators like Padel Haus and Taktika Padel) -- but then I really started to think about it and go through my notes... And what I discovered is that thanks to the efforts of people and clubs like Andres (Tito) Moreno and AMET International... Patricio Misitrano and The Sports Haus... Sam Markle and Smash Padel and Pickleball Club... Padel Plant... Tim Bainton and Epic Padel Inc... Aditya Khilnani and Sensa Padel... Benji Markoff and Padel United Sports Club... Centercourt Club & Sports... Ballers... Chase Woodsum and Padel Boston... Parker Racquet Club... RCW Athletic Club, and so many others, there are actually 15 states that now have more than one padel club (or will very soon). I was both honored and excited to recently be asked to help edit the Global Padel Report 2024 from PLAYTOMIC and Strategy& -- an in-depth, 48-page research #report that was released just this morning and is widely considered to be among the most important and informative publications about the global #padel landscape. There are some really interesting and impressive stats in it about the growth of the #sport around the world, like the fact that, on average, 𝟓𝟏 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐛𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟏𝟏𝟏 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑. There are also some pretty eye-opening insights about the global #racket market, which I'm sure will be of interest to people I've recently talked to from Blanca Padel (Andrew Won), Wilson Sporting Goods Co., Babolat, Short Court, and Fromuth Racquet Sports among others. But, as always, our focus here at The Padel State is on the U.S. market, so I probably had some slightly different takeaways than many others around the world, which I discuss in the just-released article below... Here's a question for you: what and where is the most 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦 #padel club in the U.S.? Is it one of the several Padel Haus locations in Brooklyn? Or maybe Sensa Padel's sleek new home in Nashville? Or the soon-to-open Ballers club -- which is located in a former power plant just outside Philly? Or perhaps it's one of the ultra-lux offerings from Reserve or Brisas.us in New York or Florida? Or Whitney Kraft's one-court club at the Brook Bound Inn in Vermont? Or even a club with a stunning views in the SF area like Park Padel or Bay Padel? For my money it might just be the The Heights Racquet & Social Club in Minnesota (which earlier this year was actually featured on an episode of Good Morning America that explored the exploding popularity of padel here in the U.S.). For one thing, as I discussed with their GM and fellow #squash player and enthusiast, Sheldon Vaz, to my knowledge, The Heights is currently the only publicly accessible #racketclub in the entire world that features padel, #pickleball, and BOTH singles and doubles squash courts. This weekend the number of publicly accessible #padel courts in #Arizona more than 𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒅 thanks to the opening of THE PAD's third location in #Tucson. And that number will nearly double yet again next month when Padel Alley opens its eight #padelcourts and four #pickleball courts for play just about 15 minutes east. Combine that with the fact that Conquer Padel has plans to open five #padelclubs around the greater #Phoenix area in the next few years, and you'll start to get some idea of why Arizona's padel bloom could soon turn into an all-out padel boom (especially given Arizona's climate and demographics).
