I usually try to post here once a day. It's good practice for me to remember to not take life in Japan for granted, and also I hope it's something of good service to friends and colleagues around the world to consider why Japan is really such an incredible place to spend time on a personal adventure. Of course one of the great adventures of travel is held daily at the table. "What are these things?", and "I've never seen something like this before..." are all part of the exploration and journey into culture. It's also a great chance to connect with your chef and cook and bond with your fellow diners. Typically, I like to keep breakfast "safe" and "recognizable", but if we have clients who are interested in trying new things, well then... lunch and dinner can be as creative as you like!

I have a great relationship in China and I really admire their culture!! Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is one of the most important celebrations in Chinese culture. It marks the beginning of the new year in the Chinese calendar, which is lunisolar, based on the cycles of the Moon and Sun. The exact date varies each year, generally falling between the end of January and the beginning of February in the Gregorian calendar. During Chinese New Year festivities, families come together to celebrate with banquets, exchange gifts, decorate their homes with red lanterns, and carry out various traditional activities. It is a time of great joy, bringing people together to welcome the new year with hope, prosperity and luck. Each year is associated with one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac, and that animal's characteristics are believed to influence the year's trends and events. For example, the Year of the Rat is considered auspicious for new beginnings and opportunities. Chinese New Year celebrations last approximately two weeks, culminating in the Lantern Festival, when families gather to watch parades, dragon and lion dance performances, and release lanterns into the night sky. It is a festival rich in tradition, symbolism and culture, not just in China, but in Chinese communities around the world.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to visit Japan, and I must say, it was an eye-opening experience that went beyond the breathtaking landscapes and delicious sushi. From the quiet temples of Kyoto to the busy streets of Tokyo, it’s amazing how they respect their history while embracing the new—this mix of old and new shows their deep respect for the past and their drive for progress. > People: Polite and Precise - The politeness and hospitality of the Japanese people are truly remarkable. Whether it was a friendly greeting at a traditional inn or the careful attention of a sushi chef, the level of service and courtesy I experienced was unmatched. This attention to detail and care for others reflect a culture that values respect and harmony.  > Processes: Efficiency and Quality - Japan is known for its efficient processes and high standards. From the punctual bullet trains to precise manufacturing, everything is about striving for perfection. This commitment to quality and continuous improvement, known as "kaizen," left a big impression on me and is something we can all learn from.   Lessons for Life and Business - My trip to Japan was more than just a vacation; it was a lesson in how culture, people, and processes can come together to create something special.
