This Christmas, our incredible team has been hard at work spreading joy and making a real difference for our Friends in need. Here’s what they’ve been up to: 🎄 Rose and Bobby (aka Mr. & Mrs. Claus) lovingly made up 78 individual children’s gift bags—Santa’s list is officially ticked off! 🎄 Kathy and the Stores Team sorted through over 7,500 advent calendar gifts, prepared hampers for next week, and wrapped Christmas gifts to hand out daily. 🎁 🎄 Sue and the Clothing Team organized mountains of donated clothes for our friends. 👗🧥 🎄 Cathy and Peter tackled the festive logistics—including figuring out how many people 5kg of sprouts can feed! 🥦😂 There’s so much work happening behind the scenes, and we are beyond grateful to our dedicated volunteers who make this all possible. Together, they’re making this holiday season brighter for so many. 🌟 Thank you for being the heart of The People’s Kitchen. 💕👏

This time of year, for those of us fortunate enough to possess items we don't use that are too good to throw out, is a good time to clear out those items. Especially clothes, shoes, toys, books, games, blankets and Christmas related goods like lights, trees or tinsel. I personally donated a whole bunch of stuff in October/November. Charities will happily put them up for sale giving access to those items to people less fortunate, to whom being able to afford such items might make a real difference, it might even make a child feel a little bit less left-out this Christmas. This extends to unused gifts of toiletries being donated to food banks. And if you can, when spending £200 on cheap tat stocking fillers for people who don't really need them, (That's you, lady at QD taking 20min to go through the checkout) spare a thought for those who might have to wear extra clothes and use their heating sparingly, or not able to cover a Christmas food shop, let alone splurge on chocolate and cheap plastic bric-a-brac. It's not always entirely their fault. Sometimes poor business decisions by their employers, sometimes severe illness or death of a breadwinner in the family and a myriad of other circumstances. I'm not really religious, but the saying: "But for the grace of God, there go I!" has always stuck with me. This isn't a post intended to pee on your yule log folks. It's just a CTA to reflect on your humanity in the true spirit of the season. Happy Holidays folks 🌲⛄❄️🎄🎁🧑🎄🦌🛷

This evening, my daughter and I had the joy of assembling “cake bags” for our local little food pantry. In our small town, a local homeowner (and cofounder of Do Good Wisconsin), set up a donation box outside his home, allowing the community to support those in need. After reflecting on some of the challenges food pantry recipients face, like not always having the luxury items (such as eggs or oil) to prepare certain foods, I wanted to do something special. I also realized that pantry staples are often focused on necessities, but we all deserve the chance to celebrate — especially when times are tough. Three years ago, I came across the idea that you can make a cake using just a can of soda, and that’s when the concept of “cake bags” was born. We pair cake mix with a soda (for easy baking), add frosting and sprinkles, and include simple instructions. After doing this before and it being well received, I knew I needed to do it again. We made 12 bags in total, and my hope is that these little cake kits bring a smile to someone’s face and allow them to celebrate a special day. Life has been pretty stressful lately, but I find that when things get tough, one of the best ways to cope is by spreading kindness. I feel incredibly blessed to be in a position where I can give back. Having been on the other side before, I recognize how close we all can be to needing this kind of support. Giving in this way reminds me how small acts of kindness can create moments of joy, even in difficult times. Interested in making your own kits to donate? I’m happy to email the instruction slips to you to print yourself! Comment below or message me. #CommunitySupport #KindnessMatters #DoGoodWisconsin #SmallActsBigImpact #Gratitude

Let's Ensure Every Child Has a Gift This Christmas 🎄🎁 For many families in the UK, the basics like heating their homes or putting food on the table are a struggle, leaving little room for Christmas presents. No child should wake up without a gift on Christmas morning. Instead of exchanging gifts this holiday season, our management team will purchase presents to support the B&M Mission Christmas appeal and Cash for Kids, helping children in our local communities receive presents that will make their Christmas special. We’d love to invite you and your colleagues to join us in making a difference. 💫 Do your colleagues need a box of chocolates, another bath bomb or a scented candle? Or could you purchase a gift for a child who would truly appreciate it on Christmas morning? It could be as simple as a toy, a book, or a pair of headphones. It's so simple to get involved: 1. Buy a brand-new, unwrapped gift 🎁: All kinds of gifts are welcome, especially for babies (e.g. bottles, bibs, teething toys) and teenagers (e.g. cosmetics, stationery, headphones). Please note, that food donations, including chocolates, cannot be accepted. 2. Gather gifts at your workplace (or drop them off at our office by December 16th.) 3. Ensure all donations are dropped off at your local B&M store before December 18th. Your support will make a world of difference to a child in need this Christmas. Let’s work together to spread joy and ensure no child is left behind this festive season. 🎅 #MissionChristmas #CashForKids #GivingBack #Generosity #HelpOthers #SpreadJoy #ChristmasAppeal #CommunitySupport
