Reflecting on the past four years, it’s remarkable how much the labor market has transformed since the onset of the pandemic. Let’s take a closer look at the journey: 1 "The Remote Work Revolution": The pandemic triggered an abrupt shift to remote work. Suddenly, our homes became offices, and virtual collaboration tools became our lifelines. The Great Talent Reshuffle was underway as people reconsidered their work-life balance and sought new opportunities. 2 "The Current Landscape": Fast forward to today, and we find ourselves in a tight global labor market. Companies are navigating hiring freezes and rightsizing their workforces. While the economy has softened, employee turnover remains remarkably low. Many employees, though seemingly content, secretly yearn for change but haven’t taken the leap yet. 3 "The Stuck Feeling": Low attrition doesn’t always mean contentment. Employees may feel stuck, longing for something new. Perhaps it’s time to encourage them to explore fresh paths, embrace growth, and consider making that leap they’ve been contemplating. 4 "Looking Ahead:" As we move forward, let’s recognize that the pandemic has reshaped work dynamics permanently. The future of work is evolving, and adaptability will be key. Whether it’s upskilling, exploring new roles, or seeking purpose-driven work, let’s empower ourselves and our teams to thrive in this ever-changing landscape

Gartner said RTO is harmful. It has 0 benefits. Research shows it. And HR leaders are feeling the heat: → 74% see RTO mandates as a source of conflict. → Work-life balance issues are a top reason employees quit. → Nearly two-thirds of employees thrive in remote work due to higher inclusion and better performance. It doesn’t stop there. Employees who excelled remotely may feel mistrusted by RTO mandates, making them want to quit. I’m not surprised. At Oyster, we’re working hard every day to provide opportunities for everyone. Sure, running a company has its challenges, but with the right systems in place, everyone’s creating a great impact remotely. And I get that not everyone can work remotely, and many are forced to accept conditions they’re not fully happy with, But forcing a return after thriving remotely is a step backward. I would NEVER go back. I work best where I feel inspired. I have a home office that I designed. I’m showing up for my kids, my team, my life.

We're seeing that the supply of hybrid roles is declining, but the demand for them is still high, generating a greater share of applicants for hybrid and remote roles. I'm a big believer that we do our best work when we come together, but that the flexibility of hybrid makes a lot of sense in today's world. I can see hybrid roles attracting a disproportionate share the top talent for the foreseeable future.

Join us at our next Leadership Tools Showcase on remote work (January 30, 2024): https://lnkd.in/dyjNYHQ7 How we thought about work changed with the onset of the pandemic. Working from home was new, and exciting for most. But, in return, workers gave up built-in routines, familiar distractions, interaction with other humans, predictability, structured office hours, and so much more. Work as we knew it completely changed! And with change, comes new challenges and new growth opportunities. Presenter, Olivia Fitchett, will help us identify what might be hindering our ability to engage meaningfully with our work while working from home. Using a self-assessment format, individuals will rank their satisfaction in each “Engagement Factor” and then identify what areas to focus on improving for greater engagement at home during the workday. This tool will also help workers identify what helps set them up for meaningful engagement in the work-from-home setting. #RemoteWork #PositiveLeadership #CPL #HereAndBeyond

🤔 Some companies are forcing a return to the office, and severely punishing employees that prefer to retain some flexibility and remain remote or loosely hybrid. I know all about this. 🤷🏻♂️ What is the employees' response? Go ahead and do it. ❓ What consequences do we expect in terms of talent management and retention for those companies? ❓ How committed do you think they'll remain? ❓ How long do you think they'll stay before leaving for another job opportunity that offers them the flexibility they need and want? 👉🏻 Employees are not taking any shit anymore. In many sectors, demand for talent exceeds the existing offer in the marketplace. 👉🏻 Either companies find ways to attract and retain their talents, or talents will move elsewhere and they'll have to manage with less talented talents... 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 https://lnkd.in/dPWSp4yg
