Mental health and substance use disorder care have long been out of reach for many Americans—a challenge more than half of U.S. governors from both sides of the aisle focused on in their 2024 State of the State addresses. "Our state is filled with capable [mental health] professionals who care about getting Iowans the support they need," Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds (R) said. But their ability to help is "short-changed by a fractured system." Maine Governor Janet Mills (D) pointed to one solution: Establishing "a network of crisis receiving centers across Maine so that any person suffering a mental health crisis can get prompt and appropriate care, instead of being alone or languishing in an emergency department or a jail, as is too often the case." I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY THE INFANT DEMOCRATIC-CAPITALISTIC MINDS OF TODAY BLAME THE USA GOVERNMENT. THAT SAID THEN IS ANY GOVERNMENT TO BE BLAMED FOR THE HOMELESS PROBLEMS PLAGUING THE WORLD.?... NO. GOD KNOWS ALL THE HEADACHES USA GOVERNMENT HAVE WITH THE FOREIGN AFFAIRS. THE NEW WORLD IS PRACTICALLY A SHOCK TO WITNESS. PEOPLE "ONLY WORKING" TOGETHER FOR A COMMON GOAL... "IN THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS." THUS DOESN'T THAT ALSO INCLUDE THE HOMELESS. THE HOMELESS ARE OUT THERE... ARE YOU.? HOMELESS A OPPORTUNITY MISUNDERSTOOD..... The modern economic system is a market economy, which is a capitalist economy where people, not the government--NOT THE GOVERNMENT--own most businesses. In a capitalist economy, prices allocate capital and labor between competing uses, and capital assets like factories, mines, and railroads can be privately owned and controlled. https://lnkd.in/eB98Jnv9 GOOGLE. EXAMPLE, IF YOU NEED TO RAISE MONEY FOR ANY REASON OR MORE SO LETS SAY THE "HOMELESS" PROBLEM WHICH IS BELIEVED TO BE TIME & MONEY CONSUMING BUT IN ONE DIRECTION TOWARD THE HOMELESS. HOWEVER CRYPTOCURRENCY CAN POSSIBLE ALLOWS AN EXPENDITURE OF CURRENCY TO BENEFIT ALL WHO USES THE CRYPTO & REGARDLESS OF HOW IT'S CONSUMED. I applaud the passage of Proposition 1, which changes the way money is spent on mental health and other services in California with approval of a $6.4 billion bond to support 10,000 behavioral health beds. It also reconfigures funding for drug addiction treatment. SAMHSA's latest numbers show 21% of individuals experiencing homelessness reported having a serious mental illness, and 16% reported having a substance use disorder. In California these numbers are estimated to be even higher, with substance use disorder affecting upwards of half of the homeless population. These are significant public health challenges warranting broad systems reform. I hope to see more states adopt a similar approach. #mentalhealth #Prop1 #policy https://lnkd.in/eXZAtPbg

💞Emotional support is a vital lifeline for survivors of domestic abuse. Research undertaken as part of our #PublicHealth Approach shows 78% of survivors highlighted emotional support as crucial to recovery. Yet too many people tell us survivors’ mental health needs are not being met. ⭐Our Public Health Approach emphasises the importance of trauma-informed care, ensuring that professionals create safe spaces where survivors feel heard, validated, and understood. 🎇We work with local authorities, police and crime commissioners, clinical commissioning groups and other multi-agency partners to undertake a systemic review through the lens of the whole family, to ensure all survivors get the right support, at the right time. The recent statistics reveal a troubling trend among our youth and young adults (ages 15 to 24): an average annual overdose death rate of 12.6 per 100,000. These numbers are not just statistics; they represent real lives lost and potential unfulfilled. As professionals and community members, we have a collective responsibility to address this crisis through comprehensive education, accessible prevention resources, and supportive recovery programs. In the workplace and beyond, fostering an environment of openness and support can encourage individuals to seek help without fear of stigma. Promoting mental health awareness and substance abuse prevention, especially among our younger population, is crucial in reversing this devastating trend. It's about creating a culture where asking for help is seen as a strength, not a weakness. As we reflect on these sobering statistics, let's commit to being part of the solution. By investing in mental health resources, advocating for policy change, and supporting community-based initiatives, we can make a significant impact. Together, we can save lives and nurture a healthier, more resilient future generation. #YouthMentalHealth #SubstanceAbuseAwareness #CommunitySupport #PreventionIsKey 🚫💼

❗ In many countries in #Europe, #NorthAmerica and #CentralAsia, more than 1 in 4 #older persons is affected by #depression. Yet the #mentalhealth of older persons is often overlooked. Most impacted are women, less educated persons and those aged 80 and older. The latest policy brief by United Nations Economic Commission for Europe on #ageing and mental health sheds light on the complex challenges related to mental health of older persons in the region and presents different policy strategies applied across UNECE member States to promote, protect and care for the mental health of older persons. ▶ https://lnkd.in/dSG2kVpv Lisa Warth Philipp Hessel Kristen Jeffers Mahler Claudia

The graphic below speaks to the support and culture that most police services are striving to achieve. It doesn't stop the member from going to or taking a tough call, it doesn't stop members from being held accountable and it doesn't stop the challenges and stressors of home life........but it does let members know, you are valued and there are people and supports to get you through it. #policing, #lawenforcement #wellness #mentalhealth #leadership #mentalhealthawarenessmonth

Gen Z knows mental health is highkey critical to the overall health and well-being of individuals and communities! We know mental health issues like depression and anxiety increase the risk of substance misuse. That is why, as part of the Office of Governor Josh Shapiro's Behavioral Health Council, we are breaking down silos to address gaps in access, affordability, and delivery of mental health and substance use disorder services for Pennsylvanians at every stage of their life. More about the Behavioral Health Council, including its members - DDAP Secretary Dr. Latika D. Davis-Jones and leadership from The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, Pennsylvania Insurance Department, PA Department of Aging, Pennsylvania Department of Education, Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, PA Department of State, PA Department of Agriculture, and Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry is here: https://lnkd.in/eQvHqAWv The Council also includes appointees from the Commission on Crime and Delinquency, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, and legislature. Mental Illness Awareness Week, running through tomorrow, Oct 12, and coinciding with several mental health awareness days, is a great reminder to prioritize your well-being. #MIAW #WorldMentalHealthDay
