My mind has been wondering. It’s not a new thing but the clarity of a vision I start to see when my brain veers off structured thought, has gotten sharper as of late. I’ve been working with various pieces of a puzzle for a good part of a decade. I’ve always viewed projects I’ve worked on in distinct and unique buckets. But this shifted a bit in 2022 when I wrote what I now call a lynchpin grant. The thing you need to get funded to build the frame for a house. It sets the stage. Allows things to operate in unified fashion so you can build several rooms [in said house] for inquiry. I’m writing for funding for this project again and I need some things: 1. An EPIC Analyst certified in Healthy Planet module or willing to get certified 2. Someone doing something different/innovative in modality training. I’m intrigued by CommonSpirit Health Virtual Nurse model which hasn’t been applied to this specific topic but would be an interesting venture also virtual reality applications like what IKONA Health is doing. Looking to chase incident starts in a more fluid approach. 3. Someone who has deep knowledge of TriNetX - I have a good working knowledge but would love a super user to ask a few clarifying questions. Did you read this post and think of someone that would solve one of these asks? Connect me with them in the comments. P.S. if you also have $500k and want to support a powerhouse team I could use that too, kidding [kind of].

Everyone who works in Epic knows how hard it is to actually land a job supporting the application. I have, all around about 10 years of Epic Support. But I have always worked as a contractor. So that means that I, of course have no Certs in Epic. With that being said, I work with all these contractors with the broken promises of being told that the client that I am supporting will get you certified after going fulltime. I go fulltime and it never happens, when brought up or discussed it is shut down. Getting an Epic Cert is not possible to do without a client supporting you. I was top analyst for several years doing Epic Support, helping with Elbow support, supporting command centers when needed. One company, I was employed with thought that I was good enough to get certified in another EHR, but did not want to expense anything towards a Epic Cert. I was an employee who made myself very open for whatever was needed. I worked long hours, I would work a 10 hour shift, go home for 4 hours, clock back in and do another shift. I worked almost all holidays, I was a fill in for where ever there was a gap in staffing. I was there. My stats was ranking number one of 3 teams in a whole, I was cross trained in multiple accounts. I was damn good at my job. I out performed anyone, and did it flawlessly. I am the prime example of someone giving their all to a company to be let down. I was let go due to a misunderstanding. A multi-million dollar company let me go over a $849.66 misunderstanding. I was devastated. That was my perfect job, since then I have not been able to find one that I have loved as much as I did that one. I need advice, help, reach out, I want to get back in to a career like that again. I have been looking but it seem almost impossible. What can someone like me, who has no certs, go back to supporting Epic again? #epic #epicjourney #epicjobs #epicsupprt #work #openforwork #epichyperspace #EHR

I never thought this would happen to me... We've all either heard this or said it, and in my case, I am having to do the latter. For the last 14 years I was gainfully employed by Texas children's Hospital in Houston TX. which was by far the greatest experience of my professional career. I gained experience in IT Healthcare as an Epic EHR analyst, and workflow Expert with the Epic training team...my "family". Then it happened... August 7th 2024. I, along with almost 1,000 other employees were laid off. They got everybody...my manager, my old manager, and key people in Epic production; not to mention frontline healthcare providers. As an ardent capitalist, I understand that when a company isn't making money, it has to make these types of decisions, but that does not make it feel any better. So what now? Getting laid off stinks. but it's not the end of the world. I think the first hurdle besides looking for a new position is 1. Realizing it's not your fault. 2. You are not alone 3. look at the positives... any positives! 4. Don't project the future i.e. "no one's going to hire me!" and 5. Don't make decisions with your emotions. Over emotionalizing decisions may lead to you taking "A" position and not "The" position. One you'll be happy with and not feel stuck in.

What if you could cut your Epic testing time down from months to weeks? Imagine implementing a fast and seamless test management process without: ❌ Disrupting operations ❌ Overwhelming your IT and informatics teams ❌ Experiencing post-go-live issues Sounds too good to be true? Most healthcare organizations think so — that’s why they continue to rely on manual processes using printed Excel spreadsheets to get the job done and still never feel confident when it’s time to go live. This was the reality for our friends at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (MLH) before they partnered with our team at Optimum to fully transform their Epic test management process and create what leaders at Epic are describing as one of the most successful test management solutions they’ve ever seen. Join MLH’s IT Testing Coordinator, Connie Burse, along with Optimum’s EVP of EHR Services & CareerPath, Geoff Blanding and Sr. Director of Customer Success, Natalie Tollefson, SPHR for our upcoming Healthy as Tech talk. In this talk, you’ll hear: 👂 Real-life examples of challenges MLH faced with test management 👂 Steps they took to overcome those challenges 👂 3 things you can do right now to reduce testing time and increase accuracy and efficiency Grab your (virtual) seat at the link in the comments. 👇 #HealthyAsTech #Epic #TestManagement #emr
