📌Why former film production workers should be at the top of your hire list! Pt. 1
Many former TV employees, such as myself, have run into an awkward stage when trying to get into the corporate world.
By February 2nd, 2024, it’ll be exactly a year since I’ve been in the corporate job market. Throughout almost twelve long months of countless recruiters giving me feedback such as, “We’re not sure if you’d fit our requirements based on your prior experience,” I’ve come to conclude that while yes, the corporate world can withhold a different field of work, members of the corporate community would be WIDELY impressed to witness the amount of work and willpower that production employees put in for just one working day alone. I assure you that all production workers are qualified for EVERY corporate role we deliberately apply for.
Ixa Sotelo, a LinkedIn user, happens to have an extensive film industry background, such as I do. After recently stumbling across her post titled, “Why You Should Hire a TV Production Employee,” I quickly became inspired to add to her approach:
✅Work Ethic:
The work ethic ALONE of a production employee in any department is simply unmatched. I’ve worked for several productions for over 6 years to confirm this. We come from 12-hour minimum daily shifts, including production office workers. We sacrifice balanced sleep and often don’t have lunch breaks past thirty minutes, while office workers always insist on working during their lunch breaks. For the sake of getting the work done, we manage insanely tight time schedules and do our best to minimize as much human error as possible.
