Implore anyone who likes a good read to pick this book up! 📑
As someone who likes structure and organisation, this book resonated a lot with me and made me think about how I've evolved over the years. At the end of the day, life is all about evolving - professionally and personally - right?
The best way to do this? Surround yourself with like minded people - "Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people".
Something that joining the Screenworks Limited team has me so excited about - but that's a story for another day!
One of the best bits of advice I was ever given was by Marcus Schiewe. I vividly remember a conversation about decision making a few years ago. Marcus told me that whenever you're at a crossroads, or making a decision that requires a concise decision, write down all the pros and cons. Then, objectively assess and breakdown what merit it brings to the table - both good and bad - with the team in mind. Game changer. 👏
There's not much we can control at times, but what we can control is how we apply ourselves.
Atomic Habits by James Clear. Give it a read. 🙌
Back in my corporate days the phrase 'RIGHT FIRST TIME' was often used however, this wasn't helpful for me, let me tell you why...
To me this meant that it is not acceptable to do anything but excellent work, right from the start. It made me think it wasn't good enough to do a naff draft, that people who were great at what they did were able to do this. Somehow I was inferior if I wasn't able to do this. It played into my perfectionist tendencies and lead me to putting off work through the fear of not getting it 'RIGHT FIRST TIME'
The reality, of course was that this is just not true! Excellent work takes effort, revision and changes for us all.
Now, when I feel stuck I ask myself what does a naff draft look like? Doing a first 'NAFF DRAFT' gets my initial ideas down, helps me make progress and get started, without the pressure of it being 'RIGHT'. I can then do more work to it to achieve an excellent outcome.

What are your cues?
Once you've taken the problem, you've got the top five tips and the top five tips are essentially going to be the very short headlines.
Take those five headlines and expand them a little bit. So there's a little bit more depth to them. So you've got more of a reminder, rather than just two words or three words for words.
And it's not intended to be like a script. I don't want people reading off scripts. It's just an expansion of the top 5 you've already done. It's just putting meat on the bones.
Then, you're ready to go!
You have more to say than you think you do. Try it - have your cues ready and hit record.
Send me the video if you like, or publish it and link it below - we'd love to see.
