AI in Construction...💻 ConTech Conversations has been having monthly discussions with Construction pros on the topic of technology. Firms are looking to incorporate more AI tools into their operations to see if it provides an 'edge' over competitors. Aaron Anderson, Director of Innovation at Swinerton, says: "When we look for an edge, we’re looking at things like project management processes, or looking to really dig into the ways that we would process things like submittals or RFIs, and the way we communicate about what’s happening with design changes." Will we continue to see more of this across all sectors of construction? Will it really provide an 'edge' over competitors? An interesting topic to see play out over the coming years 🤔 Imperium Global #construction #civilengineering #AI #AIinconstruction

Playing with AI: The Future of Construction Management Lately, I've been exploring Chat GPT, and yes, I even bought the enhanced version! It's been fun creating this AI-generated image that was supposed to somewhat resemble me, surrounded by swirling clouds of data on a construction site. My daughters are having a field day too, creating their own AI-assisted coloring pages filled with unicorns flying over rainbows and pretty mermaids jumping in the ocean... But here's the real question - how does this tie into our work in project and cost management? 🤔 (When) Will AI be the key to predicting project costs with incredible accuracy, factoring in variables that were once a guessing game, uncovering the most effective value engineering, and optimizing schedules with just a simple query to a computer? AI algorithms can analyze historical data, market trends, and material costs, offering a level of precision that was previously unattainable. Imagine this: You upload your project drawings and AI handles all the takeoffs, crafts a comprehensive budget, and maps out an efficient schedule - all automatically. It might even pinpoint the best subcontractors for each job and draft the RFPs. Sure, we might have to revisit our current roles, but the innovation is too incredible not to appreciate! As we stand on the brink of this technological revolution in construction, I'm both thrilled and optimistic. The possibilities for enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and overall project success are limitless. So, let's keep an eye on the horizon - our industry's 'unicorn' is certainly just be around the corner! What are your thoughts on AI in construction management? Have you worked with a construction software that uses AI already? Drop a comment below! #ConstructionManagement #AIRevolution #ProjectManagement #Innovation #OgeeBuilding

https://lnkd.in/dS2GpHUP On paper, a perfect summary of what the potential of AI represents in the construction market. In fact, the main constraints are based on affordability, lack of regulation and moreover the sector's culture that is still conservative and sceptical about the speed of implementation of those new technologies. The fascinating thing about AI is that AI transversally confronts all sectors with a single reality, the obligation to internalize that the organization of work within the sector will change, simply because for entirely series of missions, machines will just do better than humans. This is nothing new compared to the previous industrial revolutions which, beyond the disappearances and appearances of new jobs & professions, generated real changes in civilization. New governance frameworks, new distribution of wealth, new legal and economic ecosystems, new value chains. And this happens now. More down-to-earth, it is a fact that the digital transition, especially in the field of general entrepreneurship, remains experimental. Even though, a few days ago, a 6 m high and 65 m long wall was built by a 100% autonomous machine (AI and Robotics: Revolutionizing Stone Wall Construction and Beyond! 🌍🤖 | by Stephen McIver | Nov, 2023 | Medium), in the field, the use of AI tools remains the exception and, for the little I have learned in three years of activity in the sector, awareness is in its early infancy. It is still difficult for managers and members of boards but also for policymakers to imagine the digital transition in the sector. Nevertheless, an excellent summary of most of the challenges the sector may and should expect within a medium term, and it is time to talk about it. Jan Desmyter Buildwise (see event 4.12.)
