The #1 priority of new PGA of America President Don Rea and new PGA of America CEO is to figure out a way for PGA of America Members to get more or full access to the over $50 million in profits generated each year from the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup. The #2 priority should be to start dismantling the PGA of America Bureaucracy.

Golf as a sport for economic transformation in Southwest Trinidad My paternal grandfather Oswald Paris was an avid golfer. There are two things I know about him one is that he was serious about development as he contributed to the Credit Union Movement via Texaco Employees Credit Union and that he was deeply into sports. Watching this video about the role of African American pioneers in golf who paved the way for a Tiger Woods to even be possible is inspiring. Golf locally can be a tool for economic transformation especially for Southwest Trinidad. When we consider that there are three dormant courses in Brighton (La Brea), Bennet Village (Los Bajos, Palo Seco) and Clifton Hill (Point Fortin) these can be revitalised. When we add the possibility of small hotels/entertainment centres on these courses it can serve as an opportunity for domestic tourism. The benefits of sports in the lifestyle of citizens will also ensure that this non-contact sport enhances the healthy living of citizens as we age. Golf enthusiasts from Southwest Trinidad let us have this conversation about revitalising our three golf courses and work toward adding another layer in the economic transformation of our nation. https://lnkd.in/eiBkvcGX

Probably a PGA HQ Legal Department mandate... Leo McMahon. Are you saying - PGA HQ, take care of 60 'rank and file' PGA Members' -- close all 3 courses... "In season?" IMO, here's why HQ Legal steps in... 1 - PGA Professionals already displace 1,500+ folks who have purchased Private Club memberships at PGA Village on 36 of of their 54 holes. 2 - PGA Village Club members already call PGA (Public Golf Association) for hosting so many resort and 'package' golfers plus PGA's Members in the winter season. 3 - PGA Village homeowners are still pissed that PGA sold the "Learning and Innovation" center they thought it was an amenity of their private club membership and gated community. PGA Legal is right on this one - Closing all 3 courses might result in a very nasty lawsuit! Best for HQ to disappoint their own members again... they must be used to it by now... and because their Members are Ladies and Gentlemen, they probably won't post anything negative on Social Media anyway... On Tuesday I played two competitions at the same time. Before the "purists" come on saying "you can't do that, that's not in the rules", we did - we allow it in our golf society, and have done for years (even though I prefer not to when I can). One was a normal golf competition - 20 players, stableford, all playing against the course, best score wins. The other, matchplay - playing against one other person, quarter final, least shots per hole wins the hole, most hole wins, wins. A bit like you see on the final day of the Ryder Cup. Which do you think I prefer? Playing the course and the field? Or playing the man? You know I'm competitive - so comment below, which format do you think I prefer?
