In addition to that, we have a number of hospitality contracts that have gone to minority owned and women owned businesses and LGBTQ plus businesses. We have rebel events that just boosted our volunteer appreciation rally up at Wrigley Field. So we are very excited for them. We're very excited for their inclusion and it's going to be a fantastic convention. Christie George, thank you so much. Good luck next week.
For my older daughter's entire life, I've talked about "Huntley-Brinkley'ing" acquisition briefings, and I just found out last night that she had no idea what I meant. Funny how time rolls on, and new terminology pops up, and old terminology dies out and you don't realize it. Pop culture is like a private, unspoken language.
I first started using the term when I was an intern and all the acquisition experts were older than I was and had been present for the Huntley-Brinkley news-team from 1956 to 1970. I knew who they were because I was in elementary school during their last episode, and watching the nightly news was a big deal in our house when I was a child, especially because my big brothers were draft-age and their friends weren't coming home from Vietnam. (Let me know if I need to explain the concern.) Those were the days of Walter Cronkite, Chet Huntley, and David Brinkley.
Huntley and Brinkley were dual anchors, said goodnight to each other at the end of the show, and just ... CLASSY ... presenters. They were great role models for why I, ten years later, declared a journalism major, about a year before the beginning of 24-hours news and an opinion-based, advertising-based journalism model. For laughs, I'm linking their last episode, which shows their rival at CBS saying goodbye to the NBC team (the 2 big networks then, and 2 of maybe 3 channels you could get on your newfangled color TVs that weighed 500 pounds).
So when you hear a boomer or older GenXer talking about Huntley-Brinkley'ing an acquisition briefing, they simply mean they're going to trade-off parts of the briefing with a PM, Contracting Officer, etc, in a very classy and informed way.

When people ask me what news outlets I use, they're usually shocked to hear my answer: Fox, CNN, NBC, ABC, and more.
Why do I do it?
Because getting all the information from various perspectives is crucial in today’s polarized world. Relying on a single source can create a skewed view, but by considering different viewpoints, we can develop a more comprehensive understanding of the issues at hand. It’s all about staying informed, discerning, and open-minded. Diversifying our news sources helps us to see the full picture and make well-rounded decisions.

Good Morning LinkedIn Team.
Reminder: People will interpret things based on what they see and what they believe they heard. Take a moment, reach out to the team and clarify the “What and Why.” It can help eliminate confusion, doubt and misguideance.
This video below was taken from the show “Irrational.” It shows how we can get things wrong from time to time based on our own agendas and perspectives. If time permits, take a minute and a half and watch the video. Perspective, Perspectve, Perspective…
Some quick thoughts from me on last night's Starmer v Sunak ITV debate from a content/audience point of view.
Julie Etchingham was praised by some, and criticised by others for her moderation, but those assessments miss the point. That format is a washout, and it smacks of producers trying to fit as much in as humanly possible rather than stop to think about what's realistic within the timeframe. They should have scaled back the topics and gone over 3-4 key areas only. They should have known that anything more than that is impossible in a commercial hour.
The biggest takeaway from polling for me has been that the audience found it frustrating and irritating. That's because the production team barely considered them. On broadcasting of this nature you need to put your audience first, and think about what they want to gain out of watching it. If you put them front and centre and work back from there you would end up with an entirely different format and programme. Producers across entertainment in all mediums are far too full of their own ego far too often and don't think about their audience.
To me, this comes from insecurity. The first thing you do as an unconfident producer is pack your programmes full of subjects and content because you're terrified of a lull and people being bored. A confident production team trusts their team and their plan and lets the material speak for itself, lets it breathe.
The blame will undoubtedly fall on Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer for their hurrying and harrying and interrupting, and they should shoulder the blame for their conduct, but seriously try and get through that much stuff in that short a time and see how you get on. No-one on camera had any chance of impressing last night.
Therefore, the main portion of the blame has to go with the producers and their inability to know what format would work best for the most important group of people - the viewer.
PUT YOUR AUDIENCE FIRST.
To bastardise a quote, "there's more to entertainment than increasing its pace". As content creators, we should remember that.
Finally, take a look at this, from 1960: https://lnkd.in/eESTFVRG
It's an hour and it works perfectly.
It's a programme that's famous for other reasons but check out the format. It's classic, it never needed to change. Give the protagonists a chance to either impress or hang themselves. That's the point. That way, the audience gets to make up their own mind.
Today, let's reveal the complex interplay of fame and manipulation - and why you're part of #TheTrumanShow (most people won't get it)
