Looking for insights from my network! I’m currently helping a charity that is run entirely by volunteers and they’re preparing to hire their first employee. One unique challenge they’re facing is that this employee will be line managed by volunteers. Little bit of a whinge. Or perhaps a suggestion. Or perhaps something that everyone knows already: 💥 Charities! Don't combine fundraising and communication roles! Pick one! 💥 I'd love to go back to work for a charity again, and have my fingers crossed for one or two lovely roles. However, looking at more senior roles in the sector, I think that I could even be ready for a position at this level - EXCEPT that I've not got the head for figures that a fundraising manager or director needs. What I can say for sure that many people who *do* have that head for figures underestimate how specialised communications in the sector are. I know that it's a luxury to be able to split roles like 'Head of Fundraising and Communications' in two, but I strongly feel you're doing a disservice to the communications side of things by combining them. Let's give communications the attention and focus it deserves. #CharitySector #Fundraising #Communications

Last week, the staff team got together to discuss future service options. It was inspiring to see everyone’s enthusiasm and commitment to our shared vision of supporting unpaid carers in West Cumbria.   We discussed recent changes to the organisation, project updates and service deliverables.
