"What is to be done at this late date? Slack proposes two alternatives. We can either return to the “founder’s citizenship revolution,” which would require sound policy moves like the abolition of the oxymoronic dual citizenship, a freeze on immigration, and an America-First economic agenda. Unfortunately, the other alternative has already begun." This is Mark G. Brennan's closing thought in his book review of "War on the American Republic: How Liberalism Became Despotism" by Kevin Slack. Immigrants = Innovation. Diversity = Strength. It's not just about numbers. It's about the value. ↓ ↓ ↓ Yet... We all know the story: America is a nation built by immigrants. Despite this, many overlook the incredible contributions immigrants make every day. The new American Dream is inclusion. I see too many who forget that diversity is our greatest strength. You and I want a prosperous AND united America. How do we achieve both? I became passionate about this as I worked with countless immigrants who brought fresh ideas and perspectives. I've spent 100s of hours listening to their stories and witnessing their impact on our communities. What do you think the key is? It's an idea I've been exploring for a while. To support immigrants, I built an app that provides them with essential resources and guidance. Throughout history, immigrants have etched stories of resilience and innovation into the fabric of the United States. It's important to reflect on the countless immigrants whose journeys started with uncertainty but blossomed into success and profound contributions, creating heartwarming stories. Dr. Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa, known as "Dr. Q" is an individual who embodies the spirit of overcoming obstacles in pursuit of driving innovation and progress in America. His journey vividly illustrates the challenges immigrants often face, yet through unwavering determination, he overcame adversity and continues to make a profound impact on the world. Dr. Q, born in Mexico, first got a glimpse of the American Dream during visits to his uncle, who worked at a ranch in California. Dr. Q was turning 19 years old and only had $65 when he decided to cross the U.S. border without inspection in escape of poverty and pursuit of a better future for him and his family. Starting as a migrant farmworker, Dr. Q worked tirelessly to learn English, earn a college degree, and eventually attend Harvard Medical School. Today, he is a world-renowned neurosurgeon and researcher. He operates on about 250 brain tumors each year and is working on a method to use human fat cells to fight brain cancer! Dr. Q's considers himself a "regular guy", but his journey exemplifies the invaluable contributions that immigrants make to our communities and society at large. His work not only saves lives but also inspires countless others to pursue their dreams against all odds.
