True reconciliation requires more than words; it calls us to walk alongside one another and to learn from one another, seeking justice and reconciliation for all. 🧡 Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as people of faith, let us recommit ourselves to that transformative path by remembering the victims, survivors, families and communities affected by residential schools. Let us act in favour of greater justice and reconciliation for Indigenous peoples, which will be a blessing for all. The pain endured is deep and our journey toward healing and justice continues. https://hubs.ly/Q02RphGf0 If you don’t know what to do or where to start, here are two simple ways: 1️⃣ Engage locally: Seek out events in your area to listen, learn and stand in solidarity. Every step toward understanding is a step toward healing. 2️⃣ Explore deeper: The Jesuit Forum's ""Listening to Indigenous Voices"" guide is a powerful resource to foster dialogue and transformation through the visions, stories and words of Indigenous artists and knowledge keepers. https://hubs.ly/Q02Rpcjs0 Learn more about our work with First Nations. https://hubs.ly/Q02Rp7j_0

When it comes down to it What we see in our lack of regeneration Is the result of our inability To honour diversity And culture AND our original way and people Regeneration is life Life is what regenerates. We - our role- is as ally to life To allow it to do what it naturally does in the creation cycle. To caretake and support the harmony and flow What we do to ourselves we do to life Our separation from each other and nature and our colonised minds allow us to wedge more distance to where we belong … This Means we aren't able to ally anything Not for humanity not for life Our inability to step out of colonisation is evident in the continued racism and oppression The result being we don’t know how to be ally to life itself and her needs Or how to ally our First Nations people We are so colonised in our way and thinking it runs to our core And it is what prevents us from allowing life to continue With life’s lead As well as what continues our disregard towards Indigenous cultures We now continue with hope of humanity’s mind and invention saving the day Rather than humanity’s heart and intention guiding the way Which would lead us to reconciliation For us to truly understand what it is we need to do our return to sacredness must be a part of our process To honour and accept each other as one To learn how to hold allyship towards our First Nations people will assist us to be ally for life For they are still close to life’s whispers itself Hence why we are to return to ourselves and to their way Reconciliation week has begun. Participate. Learn. Listen. Become strong ally’s It is an act for everyday to begin to truly honour First Nations people and place.

This July 4th, let's recognize the critical moment we face as a community and as a culture. We need to move beyond party lines and come together because this might be the last time we celebrate freedoms in this manner. While many celebrate independence obtained in 1776, my ancestors were not free. This harsh reality still hits hard today, making our fight for true freedom feel even more urgent and frightening. This isn't a game. It's not a joke. The stakes are high: - Bloodshed is being presented as an option to those who oppose. - The opposition is loud and clear. - The days of avoiding political talk are over. Educate yourselves. Understand what's really going on. Fortify your tribe and chosen family. We're in a crucial moment, and our collective action is key. The power of the collective can't be overstated. Together, we are stronger, more resilient, and more capable of creating the change we need. Happy 4th, or whatever. Our future depends on us coming together, staying informed, and harnessing the strength of those who we love and those who love life and all it has to offer—as a free human being. #July4th #IndependenceDay #Freedom #Community #Unity #Educate #StayInformed #Tribe #ChosenFamily #CollectiveAction #HistoryMatters #SocialJustice #EndRacism #EqualityForAll

On this Truth and Reconciliation Day, we reflect on the past, honor the survivors, and remember the lost voices of Indigenous communities. The truth is painful, but it's necessary. Reconciliation requires courage—not just to acknowledge history, but to build a future where humanity transcends differences. Today, we are reminded that our greatest strength lies not in our individual identities, but in our shared humanity. Let this day be a call for us to come together, leaving behind the divisions of race, power, and privilege. Now is the time for unity, compassion, and understanding. The power of humanity is found in our capacity to listen, to learn, and to heal. Together, we can create a world where reconciliation isn't just a word, but a lived reality—rooted in respect, equity, and justice for all. Let us stand with Indigenous communities and honor the path forward. #TruthAndReconciliation #EveryChildMatters #HumanityFirst #TogetherWeHeal

Every year, we honor the lives lost on this day—a moment that forever changed our world. For my generation it is the “I remember exactly where I was that day” -moment. As we remember, it’s easy to focus on the tragedy and the fear, but what if we also leaned into the lessons? What if we chose to shift from an interpretation that has in many ways, lead to division and fear and instead to one of connection, resilience, appreciation and understanding? 9/11 showed us how fragile life is, but also how strong we can be when we come together. So, while we mourn, let’s ask ourselves—what are we doing *today* to foster the kind of unity that followed? Are we living in a way that honors those who lost their lives by creating stronger communities, by showing up with empathy, by building bridges instead of walls? This isn’t about ignoring the pain. It’s about transforming it into purpose. Let’s not just remember—let’s choose to act, to connect, and to make sure that, in our day-to-day lives, we’re honoring and living with the values that emerged on that day: compassion, resilience, and humanity. #NeverForget #ChooseConnection #ResilienceInAction

Our nation is at an impasse. Things may get worse before they get better. But that does not mean there is no hope to be found. There is a way to find authentic hope during these tumultuous times and stay grounded at the same time. Here's my personal note to America in these troubled times: https://lnkd.in/gyRXpRxm

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities and honour the resilience and strength of those affected by the residential school system. 🧡 The legacy of colonialism and the residential school system has contributed to the ongoing cycles of trauma and domestic violence within Indigenous communities. At Discovery House, we are committed to providing better support for Indigenous families as they heal from intergenerational trauma and the traumatic cycle of domestic violence. We do this through creating culturally safe environments and practices, fostering meaningful and lasting partnerships, and supporting initiatives that empower Indigenous voices. Reconciliation is a journey that requires us to confront uncomfortable truths and remain committed to creating meaningful change. It takes courage to talk to someone about what’s on your mind. And it helps when others understand what life can be like for you. That’s why we’re offering more programs and services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis people that are developed by Indigenous people and reflect the unique realities of Indigenous life. https://ow.ly/rmSP50SfulI
