🎶 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐃’𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: Julia Meacham 💜 Jules is TREND’s Music Publicity Intern, who has been here for the last couple of months. Her diligent attitude and responsibility for work are great assets to TREND. We are happy to have her on our team! 🎙️𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗? : So far at TREND, I’ve learned how the PR process works from start to finish, including drafting a contact sheet, writing a press release, and reaching out to the press. I’ve also learned a lot about how to make connections to network in the music industry and how to set yourself apart. 🎙️𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽? : My favorite part of my internship is that we’re able to learn from and get to know all of the senior staff at TREND. It is really cool that we get to do assignments and tasks for different publicists and learn their writing styles and personalities. I also love that there is no sense of hierarchy and we are able to share our ideas and opinions openly! 🎙️𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆? : I have loved and been involved in music since I was little, whether that was joining every choir group possible, performing in musicals, or learning the ins out outs of the recording studio. Going into my professional career, I knew I wanted to explore the industry to see what part of it I would enjoy working in the most. #musicindustry #intern #internship #earlycareers

🇦🇺📊 - In front of the majestic Opera House, achieving a goal since youth, driven by two distinct reasons. The journey here wasn't just about desire, but rather a rollercoaster of challenges! There were some unexpected twists and turns along the way - think steep curves and surprising loopings! But each obstacle was an opportunity to learn and grow. Since the early days of engineering internship, saving and planning became routine, and even with those crazy detours, we culminated in this achievement. I acknowledge that without the support and collaboration of stakeholders, this adventure wouldn't have been possible. So here's to not only the conquest of this milestone, but also to the vital importance of effective management and people's support in turning objectives into reality. #OperaHouseDream #ProjectManagementSuccess #SydneyJourney #StakeholderSupport #DreamsComeTrue #GoalAchieved #SydneyExperience #ArchitecturalMarvel #EnglishLanguagePractice

To be honest, I’ve been reflecting on my recent experiences in the music industry, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts with my network. Why is it that the music industry continues to offer internships to individuals who are clearly qualified for the roles they are applying for? Recently, I was offered an unpaid internship despite having years of experience running studios, working in top markets like L.A. and Miami, and even completing a paid internship with Warner Music Group. It simply didn’t make sense to me. The truth is, I believe the current system is broken—offering internships to seasoned professionals seems counterproductive. It feels more beneficial for a young, enthusiastic college graduate just starting out. For those of us who have put in the time and gained experience, it’s frustrating to feel overlooked and undervalued. I am passionate about the music industry, and I love what I do. However, the reality of this journey has been stressful at times. I am not discouraged, but I do believe the industry needs to rethink its approach. It might just be time to start creating our own systems and opportunities rather than relying on a system that no longer serves those of us ready to make real impact. Not giving up, just sharing my thoughts with my LinkedIn family. Thanks for reading! #musicindustry #opportunities #musiccareer #careerjourney #staymotivated

“Finding Resources as an Intern” Internship as a music therapist can be a very dichotomous experience, evoking feelings of stress, joy, loneliness, community, creativity, burnout, and so many other complex emotions. Throughout this time, one of the best coping strategies to further your education and longevity in the field is to connect with the resources available to you as a music therapy intern. However, going about this journey on top of an internship can feel daunting, so I decided to give you a head start! I have put together a living document for music therapy interns that includes resources like scholarships, podcasts, blogs, regional websites, and more. This document will be constantly updated to remain relevant and accurate. Furthermore, with this document I hope to create a space for sharing and community. During internship, it's important to fall into community. You don’t have to shoulder the burden of solving everything yourself, and you don't have to have all the answers. In that same vein, please continue to share resources and personal experiences with AMTAS, your program-mates, and other students across the region. Through collaboration we can support each other and thrive as young professionals to create a more inclusive environment. 💜𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤'𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: Kaitlyn Barnett✨ Kaitlyn is TREND's Music Publicity Intern, who has been here for the last couple of months. Her positive energy enhances our team, and we are incredibly proud to have her with us! 🤍 🎙️𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗? : I have learned the ins and outs of being a publicist for different clients, starting from researching different outlets, to securing an article on behalf of a client in the press. I have also learned how to network and make connections in the music industry. I also feel like I am learning about different global issues too, with the many Black Out Tuesday topics championed by the TREND staff. 🎙️𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽? : Working in a very safe environment that prioritizes interns' values and knowledge instead of making us do busy work or making us feel like we're dumb if we ask for clarification or help. The TREND staff also helps us feel connected to each member of the company by taking the time to conduct interviews each week to break down the usual hierarchical barriers in a successful business to humanize them and see the multiplicity of personalities of each team member. 🎙️𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆? : The reason is to help my older brothers, whom I looked up to, navigate being artists in the digital age and trying to grow their careers. I also felt like my strengths did not lie with being an artist myself, but still surrounding myself with musicians. Since I’ve always wanted to do something with music and see if I can help not just my brothers but other independent artists with their journey, my intentions shifted. I also find the business and music marketing aspect really interesting the way things continue to evolve with the evolution of the internet and social media. #musicindustry #musicbusiness #internship #earlycareer
