One last job before you leave for the evening, please make sure you register for the MPBA National Conference tomorrow – you don’t want to miss it! https://lnkd.in/dWSU768s Three Key Note Speakers you don’t want to miss: Professor Yong Wang from Manchester University Professor in Structural and Fire Engineering Yong will be presenting #Fire #Safety and Fire Resistance in #Modular #Construction Systems We have had the pleasure of seeing the presentation and it is very #informative, it offers a deep dive into #Building #Regulations Part B and how that relates to wider #regulations and #guidance This is a real opportunity to ask the #expert, not just read what it says in the guidance but understand it! George Edwardes from The Fire Protection Association Technical Director George will be presenting from a perspective of ‘Does Modular construction overlook Fire Safety?’ – it’s a little tongue in cheek but it does give an insight into the background of JCOP There will also be a chance to ask questions Andrew Wignall, Director at Salus Salus are approved #inspectors working closely with LABC with the implementation of the #Building #Safety #Regulations (BSR) – there have been sweeping changes in BSR and it will be impacting all companies and projects large and small! I hear a lot of comments from members re BSR – ‘it doesn’t impact us as we don’t build high rise’, ‘it doesn’t impact us as we are not a main contractor’ and many more dismissive statements that may have been true when BSR was first introduced.. not so now, a lot of restrictions have been removed/lowered that puts an level of responsibility and risk on all size of #projects In addition to the above we will be launching the MPBA #sustainability #roadmap and discussing LCA’s, EPD’s, and much more We also have a representation from CITB, to discuss #funding for #training and upcoming plans they have for #apprenticeships Get yourself registered ! Parking is free and it’s a nice lunch too 😊

Fantastic turnout for our Preparing for EPA webinar today! Here are some key takeaways: Tips for coaches: 1) Register apprentices early – we as EPAO can then maximise availability according to the gateway dates we see. 2) The assessment plan must be followed - and our Toolkits include the same requirements, such as submission deadlines. 3) If a portfolio doesn’t make sense to you as the coach, it won’t make sense to the assessor. Tips for apprentices: 1) Don’t use new tools at the last minute – stick to what you know best and can confidently demonstrate at EPA. 2) Listen carefully to the question the assessor asks – don’t jump in. 3) If your EPA involves carrying out a project for your organisation, make sure to schedule the activity so planning can start after gateway. #epa #epao #1stforepa #providers #coaches John Pritchard
