GIS analyst and quantitative storyteller creating narrative and ideas around physical-cultural-ecological facilities required for sustainable operation of infrastructure at interface between production and consumption.
I am going to bust a few myths about storytelling and geospatial as I see it. First when I think about storytelling I am thinking about écriture graphique. It is a way to transform thought and create conversation. We often think of stories as linear but the good ones are often cinematic. I am not following an outline -- the world doesn’t work that way --you need to move through the ideas in a personal and individual way making your own association and adventure. Maps are not objective. The rules change depending on authorship, the time-frame, the culture and the context(geopolitical, ecological, agricultural...etc) You need the right tools and skills to communicate a version of reality that sits on our built environment. Watch a preview, see if its for you -- let’s start telling stories. https://lnkd.in/eRuir25H

Could This Unconventional Tweak Triple Your Content's True Reach? In case you've missed Parts 1 and 2, here's a recap: We've uncovered two laws governing subconscious scanning - the tendency to zigzag in Z formations down pages and absorb only 4-6 word bursts at a time. Yet most creators STILL layout content linearly, oblivious to these optics pitfalls sabotaging engagement every day... But what if I told you minor structural tweaks to hack these habits can transform consuming perspectives? What if a simple text sizing shift not only aligned WITH involuntary gaze magnets...but intentionally amplified them for optimal viewing? What if subsequent scans of your value increased word absorption from 38% to 87% consistency? Would unlocking this potential not be worth testing different formats despite the linear tradition? I recently asked these questions before developing my latest guide. Though apprehensive to divert from failsafe text blocks, curiosity around scanning research sparked an experiment: I increased the font size of the first character in each new section by 250% creates clear visual hierarchy cues. And left the remaining copy traditionally formatted. This enhanced that irresistible eyeline towards BIG objects within view without full disrupted flow. So I essentially EMBRACED the zigzag bias I could not eliminate! The result? Average Absorption Per Page Before: 129 words After: 342 words 2001% more information consumed, understood and RETAINED just by literally highlighting what eyes naturally notice anyway!! All from minor tweaks maximizing hardwired quirks instead of ignoring them. Still think you should format content based on flawed assumption that careful linear reading reigns? More perception-hacking results ahead!

Think you scan words methodically, fully, left to right, top to bottom? Eye-tracking tech exposes otherwise. Programmed perceptual patterns influence content's destiny in milliseconds... Hard Truths: Our Brains Zig-Zag Text Subconsciously Question: Ever start carefully reading something then notice way later your eyes unintentionally skipped entire sections? Or moved down to a random paragraph midpoint for no logical reason? Me too. Constantly. The frustration is REAL. It's hard to fully absorb information simply due to scattered focus, right?! What if it’s NOT poor attention sabotaging your content engagement after all? What if — bear with me — an involuntary visual zig-zagging pattern encoded before we even learn language actually governs how ALL humans navigate text and graphics? And structural disregard of this innate Z flow bites creators in the engagement every single time? Let that sink in for a sec... The implications around reach and conversion rates lost are staggering. Especially for anyone continually pouring value into overlooked content that fails to structurally honor the way eyes instinctively move. I call it being #ScanningBlinded. Question is...could hidden gaze patterns secretly steer whether YOUR genius breaks through? Decode the 3 Laws of Scanning with me...coming soon! #aportiabrowncompany #contentmarketing #contentwriting
