Sad news, and as a lifetime skier ⛷️ I believe this is a wake-up call for resorts to put better protections around tower sink holes. The existing measure is a very thin rope that will stop no one from going in and may be very hard to see on low-visibility days. More accidents happen on the slopes as a result of tree wells and sink holes than all of the avalanches combined, yet most go unreported. Avlanches are sensational, so the press loves to report on those. Simple measures could improve the safety of in-bounds skiing. Some of those measures are as follows: 1. Better protection around lift towers (case in point), and around hazardous sink holes or moulins where they exist. 2. Mandatory ski helmets on every resort - very easy to enforce and also crates a revenue stream for businesses to sell helmets. 3. Mandatory whistles for everyone on the slopes - also very easy to implement. We know there are risks with skiing and snowboarding, but we could save a lot of lives with very little effort. Watch my feed in the future as I give the gears to ski resorts. #safety matters
