Often, we are focused on the destination. Getting from where we are to some other point, but we forget that everywhere we are on the journey is somewhere. The difference between wayfaring and transport can remind us of the joy of wandering and being on a journey. "Like the line that goes out for a walk, the path of the wayfarer wends hither and thither, and may even pause here and there before moving on. But it has no beginning or end. While on the trail the wayfarer is always somewhere, yet every ‘somewhere' is on the way to somewhere else. The inhabited world is a reticulate meshwork of such trails, which is continually being woven as life goes on along them. Transport, by contrast, is tied to specific locations. Every move serves the purpose of relocating persons and their effects, and is oriented to a specific destination. The traveller who departs from one location and arrives at another is, in between, nowhere at all. Taken together, the lines of transport form a network of point-to-point connections." (Tim Ingold, Lines: A Brief History (Routledge Classics))

🗺 Today is the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, marking the vernal equinox. In the traditional Chinese calendar, today is also known as Chunfen. On this day, the sun shines directly at the Earth's equator, and day and night are equally divided between the northern and southern hemispheres. There are many calendars in the world, but do you know the calendar of 13 months? https://lnkd.in/eBnEfTdK #spring #vernalequinox #NorthernHemisphere #calendar #gregoriancalendar #Chinesecalendar
