#What #is #Gareth #Southgate's #legacy #as #he #steps #down #as #England #manager? – #video. Guardian journalist Barney Ronay explains what Gareth Southgate's legacy will be as he steps down as England manager after eight years in the role. Southgate led England to two finals, a quarter-final and a semi-final and is arguably one of the most successful managers the team has had. Support by fans took a 'dark turn' however when success became 'expected as a default' and some took umbrage at his politics once England began taking the knee. Due to this Southgate faced serious scrutiny and his legacy of success will be entwined with the criticism he received. What is Gareth Southgate's legacy as he steps down as England manager? – video. England fans may come to regret Southgate’s exit, claims Tom Heaton Manchester United goalkeeper was coach at Euro 2024. ‘He’s changed the feel of it. MChanged the expectation’ Jamie Jackson in Los Angeles Tom Heaton believes some fans may regret Gareth Southgate’s resignation, with the goalkeeper who was part of the coaching staff at Euro 2024 stating that people may come to regard the outgoing England manager as having done an “incredible job”. In eight years in charge, Southgate led England to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals and the quarter-finals four years later, and to the finals of Euro 2020 and Euro 2024. Yet uneven form at the last of these caused a sizeable constituency of supporters to vent their ire, with Southgate drawing particularly fierce abuse. Two days after England’s 2-1 defeat by Spain, Southgate announced his resignation. The Manchester United keeper was asked if some fans may come to rue this. “I really do. If you think back to [England’s] track record, I think he’s changed the feel of it,” Heaton said. “We were all sort of excited to watch the games. We were performing well. Changed the expectation. I think we will come [to look] back to sort of go, ‘incredible job’.” Heaton said the squad wanted Southgate to stay. “That would be the case,” he said. “It is very rare in football you get a squad of players, the ones who aren’t playing, especially the ones used to playing every week, that every single person there wants to win it, they want to win it for the manager, he is a leader you want to follow. I think that would be the mentality. That’s how I feel, you want to win it for him because of what he’s done.” Heaton, who is United’s third-choice goalkeeper, signed a new one-year contract this month. “To be brutally honest, it has always been a massive driver to play. I had a couple of discussions with a few other people, but to be true to myself, it didn’t feel right,” he said. “The gut didn’t feel right. I’ve still got a big hunger to play. But I am hoping there are going to be opportunities to play. I wouldn’t sign if I didn’t think I was capable of delivering that.” Metin Tilki MBA

FACING THE GIANTS This video is a story of a struggling football coach named Grant Taylor who’s facing giants in many forms. He hasn’t had a winning season for almost 7 years; he is unable to have children of his own; his home has a leaking roof, his appliances are breaking down, and his car is an unreliable embarrassment; and there is a group of parents along with his Junior coaches trying to get rid of him, calling him a loser and a dead weight. His faith is more than shaken -- it's crumbling. He gets to a point where fear paralyzes him. Coach Taylor laments to his wife Brooke, “I can't provide you a decent home. I can't provide you with a decent car. I'm a failing coach with a losing record. And I can't even give you the children you want. It's me like everything else is me. I've tried so hard. Why can't I win? What's God doing? Why is this so hard?" Coach Taylor is unable to sleep. In his desperation, he turns to God. He starts praying. His wife joins him in prayer. Soon miracles start to occur that will stir the hearts of everyone. Students who get failing grades start getting 100 percent on tests. A rebellious boy becomes obedient to his father. He begins to have a winning season. His team defeated the three-time defending champion Richland Giants. God blesses him with children. The movie is about overcoming fear with faith with the underlying theme. “There is nothing impossible for God.” #FacingTheGiants #MotivationalVideo #inspirationalvideos

#quoteoftheweek "You have to work hard AND well. There are many people who work hard but not well." Jose Mourinho is one of most successful and therefore most recognized football coaches. ⚽ Mourinho, who will turn 61 next week, is known for his charisma and focus on "not losing" which brought some critique but at same time allowed his teams to win multiple titles across Europe. 🏆 He is known for attention to detail and always being well informed about opponents strengths and weaknesses. I believe there are many analogies between team sport and teams in business. The figure of coach / manager means a LOT to team performance and there is no single blueprint for success. In case of Mourinho one thing is certain - former players who value structure and discipline praised their coach's ability to build strong, organized teams and focus on performance, rather than style. I recommend watching extracts "All or Nothing" Amazon Prime's series on Tottenham Hotspur who were coached by Mourinho at that time. As a coach, he is transparent and honest, he is supportive but clear and brutal with his feedback, he pushes players in a strong way to get most out of them so that the team wins. Check out link in comment to find the video. I love how he says in pre-game briefing: "The most important thing in life is courage, honesty, good feelings, friendship (...) yesterday we lost a game but today we will play with courage, as friends, being positive. (...) Let's go together boys!" 💪 #leadership #sports #workhardANDwell #josemourinho ------------------------------------------------- Hey there! Every once and awhile, you come across something on the internet, that at first glance - doesn't seem all that impactful, until you take a moment to digest it. Recently, I've been feeling the self-imposed pressure, as many high performers, to consistently perform higher and to keep expanding. A bit of pressure can be a great thing, but misplaced - can be debilitating. Yesterday, I saw a quick snippet of an interview with Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla. Arguably, in the highest pressure situation one can imagine - he deploys an enormous amount of perspective. It stopped me dead, in my tracks. "We're all going to be dead soon, and it really doesn't matter anymore. So there's zero pressure," he told reporters. "You have an opportunity to carry the organization forward, to double down on the tradition and history of what this organization has. And what else would you expect than someone expecting you to win all the time? ... It's not pressure," Mazzulla said. "There's nothing anyone in this circle can do to me that's going to impact my identity and who I am as a person or a coach. We're either going to win or we're not, and 40 years from now, none of you are invited to my funeral and that's it." So as we head into the most stressful time of the year, remember... we have an opportunity. An opportunity to provide for our loved ones, an opportunity to be there for them, and an opportunity to improve ourselves. Whenever you're feeling boxed in, sometimes the best solution is to zoom out. https://lnkd.in/gjf2ku-6
