On Day 28 of #PreservationMonth, TTG showcases the Percy Warner Allée in Nashville. The Tradesmen Group was selected by the Friends of Warner Parks and Metro Nashville/Davidson County to repair the significantly damaged historic stone entrance and landscape features of the Allée, while also addressing inadequate storm water drainage. TTG craftsmen excavated and re-graded areas to properly direct storm water flow to newly installed concrete catch basins and storm pipes. TTG installed new Crab Orchard flagstone throughout the Allée, plus restored all masonry hardscape walls. Finally, extensive landscape improvements included new reconditioned soil, new turf and plantings and a new irrigation system. Work was completed in 2020. Allée is French for “an alley in a park lined with trees.” Designed by the noted landscape designer Bryant Fleming in the 1930s, the structure includes mortared limestone columns, steps, terraces and curving walls. The Allée provides scenic views of the front entrance and introduces the scenic trail system of the park. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. #SavingPlaces

#ArtificialGrass #Landscaping #GroundPreparation When considering installing artificial grass, it's crucial to prepare the ground properly to ensure optimal results. Suitable ground types for artificial grass installation include soil, concrete, asphalt, and decking. Here are some key steps for ground preparation: Clear the Area: Remove any existing vegetation, debris, rocks, and other obstacles from the area where the artificial grass will be installed. Level the Ground: Ensure that the ground surface is level and even to prevent any bumps or unevenness under the artificial grass. Use a rake, shovel, or leveling tool to achieve a smooth surface. Compact the Soil: If the ground is soil-based, compact it using a plate compactor or roller to create a stable base. This helps prevent shifting and settling over time. Install Edging: Install suitable edging material along the perimeter of the installation area to contain the artificial grass and prevent it from shifting or spreading. Add a Weed Barrier: Lay down a weed barrier fabric to prevent weed growth and ensure a clean surface for the artificial grass. Provide Drainage: Ensure proper drainage by incorporating a suitable drainage system, such as perforated pipes or gravel, especially if the area is prone to water accumulation. By following these ground preparation steps, you can create an ideal foundation for the installation of artificial grass, ensuring long-lasting durability and a beautiful, functional landscape.
