How Tourism led me to Facilities Management is a love story I will share someday but it is unquivocal that Facilities Management will be the hallmark of Africa's development as its untold value and impact continues to be increasingly palpable in various sectors of Africa's economies. I am glad and honored to have been invited to lead the NEC Presidential Advisory Committee of the Association of Facilities Management Practitioners Nigeria AFMPN. A team of FM professionals and veterans who are dedicated and committed to the standards, growth and development of the sector. Our core mandate includes supporting the NEC strategic direction, advocacy, stakeholder engagements, industry and multisector collaboration, professionalism and the standardisation of best practices in Nigeria. As Africa pivots towards a netzero and sustainable future, Facilities Management will champion the acceleration of development from sustainable cities to green buildings, energy efficiency and transition, sustainable facilities and infrastructure, functional urban spaces, waste management, water conservation, air quality, wellness, resilience, accessibility and inclusion, community engagement, environment, business excellence etc. As an industry and as an association, we anticipate quantum results through our collective efforts towards a more equitable, resilient and sustainable future for Nigeria. My old employers made a huge announcement. They corrected a HUGE mistake of letting Todd Vasos step aside as CEO and reinstating them. I served Dollar General for nearly 10 years as a vendor, coordinator and later in their real estate department. I have always loved DG but truly hope, especially after several high profile shootings, they will make it a governing policy that no store employee will ever be working by themselves at any size DG. It's a tremendous liability and just plain unethical to put an employee at risk so unnecessarily. DG stores are a magnet for robbery. It's just plain reckless for someone to leave the cash register unattended while a single employee is out in the store stocking. Corporate boards wonder why employees seek to unionize, the prioritization of huge corporate salaries over the safety of employees at the store level is why it happens. I have confidence that Dollar General cares enough to get this done for their employees.

His story clearly shows how government can be used against small companies. #SMB owners who have realized this are taking steps to efficiently comply with complex regulation, effectively oppose new regulations, and even turn the ever-growing government needs into opportunities for their firms. For sure, there is room for improvement in the general trustworthiness of our political leaders. As someone who has campaigned for greater levels of trustworthiness in leadership over the past seven years, I understand the frustration thousands of people felt when they visited their polling booths yesterday. What is the point? Nothing will change regardless of who is in Downing Street. Really? Is this true? I don’t think so. Today, we wake up to a new Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer. Will Sir Keir be the perfect leader for this country? No. But is he a force for good? At heart, is he in it for himself, or is he one of those rare leaders who are driven by a higher purpose to make the world a better place? Time will tell, but our job is to keep the hope alive that some leaders are a force for good because without that hope, we sink into cynicism, bitterness and despair and that is not a place in which we wish to find ourselves, is it?  #forceforgood #keirstarmer #purposedrivenleadership #trust

This #official Day would encourage individuals to reflect on their #own #actions and how they can #contribute to the #betterment of society, whether it be through #volunteering, #sustainable #practices, or #simply being kind to others. It would also serve as a #Call to #action for #governments to prioritize #policies and actions that #promote #social #justice, #environmental #sustainability, and #ethical #behavior.
