Even an otherwise eloquent and emotionally intelligent person can invoke a real sense of judgement and shame in the person they’re communicating with – whether verbally, written, or otherwise. Usually, it’s unintentional. But it happens because of clumsiness around the language they use, and because they haven't recognised – or remembered – that we’re all primed to tell ourselves stories about someone else’s intent behind a message. And that’s regardless of whether they might be right or not. But the good news is that for those of us who want to take deliberate command of exactly how our message lands, there is a *very* simple way that we can avoid this scenario from playing out. And it involves just one four letter word 🗣️ Check out our latest blog where we explain all 👇 https://lnkd.in/eZReKh4M #CompellingCommunications #LanguageMastery #Even #ClumsyLanguage #DeliberateCommand #TheUltimateAdvantage

In communication, it's not just about the words spoken aloud. Sometimes, the most crucial messages are the ones left unsaid. It's like reading between the lines. You have to pay attention to the tone, the body language, and the context to truly understand what someone is trying to convey. So, while words are important, it's equally important to listen to what isn't said outright. #UnspokenCommunication #ListenBeyondWords #ReadingBetweenTheLines

Mastering Dialogue 💬🔊 Dialogue breathes life into your characters and moves the story along. Here's how to craft conversations that feel real and revealing. ➡️ Reflect Personality: Each character's way of speaking should match their background and personality. ➡️ Avoid Info Dumps: Spoken exposition should feel natural, not forced. ➡️ Use Contractions: People often use contractions (e.g., "don't" instead of "do not") in casual conversation. ➡️ Be Subtext Savvy: Not everything is said out loud. Let characters read between the lines. ➡️ Read Aloud: Hearing the dialogue can help you catch awkward or unnatural phrasing. 🔍❓ Challenge: Write a short dialogue exchange that reveals something about the characters without stating it directly. #SelfDiscovery #WritingDialogue #CreativeWriting

Isn't communication just like a dance? Picture words as the elegant dancers in a grand ballroom, each step telling a story, each twirl revealing a turn of phrase. So, here's an idea😌- let's waltz through conversations with grace and intention, making every word a move in our linguistic dance. Think about it – the conversations we have are like delicate dances, and each word is a step towards understanding or a twirl of expression. It's not just communication; it's a shared dance, an exchange of thoughts that paints a vibrant mural of connection. In a world that sometimes rushes through conversations, let's slow down and savor the dance of words. Let's make our conversations a waltz, not a race. Each sentence, a step; every phrase, a twirl. Together, let's create a masterpiece in the ballroom of language. #LanguageDance #ExpressiveConversations #WordPlay #PreplyTutor

Lexical Substitution for insults. In Business English, the lexical substitution for “insults” is “negative feedback” or “criticism.” These terms are more neutral and professional, helping maintain a constructive communication tone.

I learned to be precise in language. But not in the common "watch your mouth" way. In the communicate clearly way! How that? The more I communicate with clients, friends and people in general I am astonished by the amount of repeating people do. We reiterate points over and over again, just because we didn't communicate them clearly initially. I have realized that if I am able to communicate to the intended listener cleary, then I'll save lots of time and be better of. I don't want to repeat myself just because my wording is bad. I don't want to repeat myself, because my language wasn't clear. I'd rather communicate clearly and stand by what I say. Do you agree?

Want to make your message stick? Try using a metaphor. Metaphors are those things you probably learned about in English class - figures of speech that refer to one thing by mentioning another (e.g. "My body is a temple.") And they are great to use when you communicate because they help your reader (or listener) picture something specific. For example: I could say: "That person has negative qualities." OR I could say: "That person is a bubbling cauldron of loathsome traits." Which would you remember? Any guesses (without googling) who said this quote - and who they were talking about? #communication #wordsmatter #metaphors

Powerful communication requires authenticity Authenticity = conviction and congruence. What do you need to do to ensure your conviction is communicated and reflects your authenticity ? Congruence is the key Your words and actions need to add up The words you use, the body language you display and the tone of your voice all have to match up for other people to sub-consciously “read” sincerity in you. This should happen automatically when you’re being yourself but anxiety can skew this. You should check the signals you’re sending out, in your tone and body language are matching your message. #speakinginpublic #publicspeaking #speakingconfidence www.archimedesspeaks.com

Language, a powerful tool, holds the capacity to shape perceptions and build connections. What you say, and the words you choose can create a mosaic of impressions for the recipient. A simple phrase can be a bridge or a barrier, depending on the nuances and tones embedded within. Consider the impact of your words, for they carry the weight of intention and emotion. What may seem innocuous to you might resonate differently with another. It's a reminder that communication isn't just about conveying information but also about fostering understanding. Choose your words thoughtfully, recognizing the potential to create impressions that linger long after the conversation ends. Let your language be a beacon of empathy, weaving connections that bridge understanding. #PowerOfLanguage #CommunicationMatters

Speaking tip: Eliminate the unnecessary 'so' and 'go ahead' We hear this a lot today - starting a sentence with 'so'. So, yesterday I visited... So, here we have an example of... So, next we'll review... And, 'go ahead' Would you like me to go ahead and make the change? I will go ahead and process your request.. Most of us have heard of verbal tics, those empty words or phrases we utter as we're forumulating our thoughts. 'Um' , 'ah', 'you know' are a few of the common ones. 'So' (to start a sentence) and 'go ahead' are two more to listen for in your speaking patterns. Each has its place in our language, but both tend to be overused. As is the case with all verbal tics, knowing that you're using one (or more) is an important first step. Then work to reduce their useage. Your speech will be improved immensely. #speakingtips #communicationskills
