RICS has welcomed the Built Environment Committee (BEC)’s report on the future of high streets. The report, published at the end of last month, aligns with several RICS recommendations, including the importance of accessibility to boost the competitiveness of the high street, the benefits of green space, and the challenge of business rates reform. Stockton high street had been run down for so long now, empty shops and low footfall. This has made the council rethink what Stockton-on-Tees should be. As you can see they have demolished the old Castlegate shopping centre. This is now going to be pedestrianised with green areas, and amphitheatre and bars and restaurants. £35 million is currently being spent here. Now is the time to invest! Authorization Programs and Pricing Policies are NOT one size fits all. Ross Castle was built in the mid-1400s in Ireland. But Ross Castle is not really a Castle, it is a Tower House. Tower Houses were built for local conflicts- In Ireland at that time, many Tower Houses were built due to fighting between the Lords. Because of this, defense was sometimes compromised for convenience. For example, the entrance to a Castle would be on the first floor which would be harder to attack, but most entrances to Tower Houses were on the ground floor which were better for everyday life. The same Authorization Program and Pricing Policy will NOT work for All Brands.
