Brand, sales and marketing at The Vegan Society | Helping businesses grow and build trust with the world’s largest vegan certification scheme 🌻
🧀 A couple of months ago a major cheese producer told me you can’t refer to vegan cheese as, er, cheese in case it confused people who were looking for cheese cheese (does that all make sense?!). Well I will refer to it as cheese and I hope consumers looking for dairy cheese DO try vegan cheese because the innovation in taste, texture and quality is off the scale. Huge congrats to all the vegan brands who did so well in the recent Global Cheese Awards (including Vegan Trademark holders🌻)👇 We know cheese is one of the key reasons people struggle to stick with a vegan diet, so these brilliant brands are true pioneers for the category. #vegan #veganfood #sustainability #cheese #plantbased

A screenshot from the latest documentary to hit our screens on YouTube : Planet Vegan. 🌍🌱 This highlights the difference in environmental impact between plantbased cheese and dairy cheese - it’s enormous!! 🤯 Surely reason enough to start experimenting with some of the incredible cheeses now available including: I AM NUT OK JULIENNE BRUNO® Honestly Tasty La Fauxmagerie The Kindaco All offer European style cheese whilst brands like Bute Island Foods Ltd , VBITES® and Violife Professional UK & Ireland all have more American style cheeses. There’s something for everyone!! 🧀 With cheese consumption on the rise and more people realising the harmful impact of meat, it’s crucial we don’t “rob Peter to pay Paul” and end up skewing the system in the wrong direction. As Miyoko Schinner points out in the documentary, “dairy cows are actually meat cows” - their lives are just far crueller than their bucolic imagery would suggest. Which brands have you tried? Comment below! ⬇️ #plantbasedcheese #vegancheese #dairyisscary #alternativeprotein #precisionfermentation

Those easy back-of-the-box recipes? Nine of the most familiar brands in Dutch supermarkets have agreed to make half of the meals on their product packaging completely vegetarian or vegan at the urging of animal advocacy group Wakker Dier. Packaged food makers Conimex, Fairtrade Original, Jumbo, Knorr, Koh Tai and Patak's will revise their packaging so that 50% of recipes leave out meat entirely; supermarket chains Plus and Jumbo will do the same. Two other brands, Grand'Italia and Lassie, had already neared or passed the 50% vegetarian recipe milestone. The move comes after Wakker Dier research revealed over 80% of recipes on food packaging in supermarkets — for convenient seasoning mixes and meal kits ranging from mustard soup to a one-pan leek and mushroom dish — currently advise using meat or fish. Since many shoppers faithfully follow packaging instructions, meat-heavy recipes promote overconsumption of meat despite health guidance advising limits to reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes and stroke. Co-Founder of One Planet Pizza | On a mission with my Dad to build the biggest (and tastiest) vegan pizza brand in the world 🌱🍕
Here's YOUR weekly dose of gooood news from the plant-based space 😁👇 🧀 Budget supermarket chain Aldi UK has launched its largest ever selection of plant-based cheeses, including a dairy-free camembert, feta and parmesan. Having also expanded its 'Plant Menu' range this month, the retailer predicts a 40% increase in sales of its vegan range compared to last year. 🥩 Israel becomes the third country (after Singapore and the US) to approve the sale of cultivated meat in a bid to tackle food insecurity. Israeli brand Aleph Farms aims to 'enhance sustainability, food security and animal welfare' with its steak grown from non-modified cells of a premium Black Angus cow! 🥛 Chilean food-tech company NotCo wins legal battle against national dairy union. “We’re officially NotGuilty,” says CEO and founder Matias Muchnick, as the court approves the use of the world 'milk' and agrees that consumers understand that NotMilk is not dairy milk. No sh*t! 😂👋 🍨 The global vegan dessert market is expected to almost double in value by 2030, increasing to $6.2Bn. The report by USD Analytics states that growing awareness of the correlation between diet and well-being will drive demand for plant-based dessert alternatives that offer reduced sugar content, healthier fats, and nutrient-dense ingredients. What have I missed, folks?! 🤷♂️👇 #plantbased #vegan #sustainablefood

Whoa! Hart House is out of business? I guess the “downturn of the plant-based industry” has hit the vegan restaurant landscape now too. Retail has snapped back back on space and assortment to pre-pandemic (and even further back). Is Foodservice snapping back as well? Perhaps fully plant-based/vegan eateries cannot survive in this economy but I hope others see this as an opportunity to capture plant-curious and vegan’s loyalty by expanding plant-based offerings on their menus. Vegans and climate-diet eaters have money and we want to spend it on great food. Who will answer this call for expanded offerings? https://lnkd.in/dma5NxpB #plantbased #harthouse #climatediet #markettrends #foodservice #vegan

🔍 Hidden Animal Products in Alcohol 🍹 Did you know animal-derived ingredients can sometimes sneak into your drinks, including 🍷 wines, 🍺 beers, and 🍸 cocktails? Fast food giants like Burger King and McDonald's are adding vegan dishes to their menus, but is it really making a difference? These corporations have long been champions of animal agriculture, and simply offering plant-based options doesn’t change their underlying practices. Adding a few vegan items to their menus seems more like an attempt to cash in on the growing vegan trend rather than a meaningful step toward change. Behind the scenes, these companies continue to support large-scale factory farms where animals endure poor conditions and cruel treatment. If they truly want to contribute to a kinder, more sustainable world, they need to do much more. This includes reevaluating their supply chains, taking a stand against animal cruelty, and committing to ethical practices beyond surface-level menu changes. https://lnkd.in/gW-NJH-h
McDonald's launches vegan nuggets in France! 📣 The vegan McPlant Nuggets arrived in Germany last year and after successful tests, they will now launch this week at 1,500+ McDonald's restaurants across France. These Beyond Meat nuggets will be a permanent addition to the menu and priced the same as the meat option. 👏 Speaking about the launch, Jean-Guillaume Bertola, CMO at McDonald’s France, said: “With the Veggie McPlant Nuggets, we are responding to the increasing desire of French consumers to diversify their protein intake while never compromising on taste.” He added, "We are rather confident about the success of the product." Let us know what you think of this news! 👇 #Veganuary #McDonalds #McNuggets #McPlant #BeyondMeat #MeatAlternatives #PlantBased #Vegan #MeatFree

Tuesday trends - Vegan, butterless croissants and maybe something more? 'Sacrilege has rarely looked so seductive. "I'm changing the world," grinned Rodolphe Landemaine, between mouthfuls of a lovingly laminated, butter-free, pain au chocolat. Landemaine, a baker, now owns five busy boulangeries in Paris, with more on the way in other French cities, all serving entirely dairy-free products to a mostly local clientele. Not that he advertises the absence of butter, or eggs, or cows' milk, in his shops. Indeed, the word "vegan" never crosses his lips. "It's not an easy word for French people to get used to. It's very difficult for them to give up on butter and eggs," he acknowledged, explaining that the idea of veganism is considered too "militant" for many. Instead, Landemaine, a vegan with an interest in animal welfare and climate change, has adopted a stealthier approach, hoping customers will fall in love with his croissants, madeleines, quiches, sandwiches, flans and pains au raisins before they realize, too late, that butter has been replaced with a secret blend of plant-based products."' At CPM Crown we cannot change customers minds, but we can help food producers create flavors, produce oils, generate textures and help create the circular economy the world needs and customers are clamoring for. For those entrepreneurs searching for plant-based ingredients, nutrients and oils CPM Crown's team (Richard Ozer, Mat Koppang, Alexander Danelich and Hy Rillero) stands ready to work with food professionals develop innovative solutions to meet their customers' needs. #food #foodingredients #foodproducers #flavor #edibleoil #circulareconomy #vegan #vegetarian #plantbasedfood #plantbaseddiet https://lnkd.in/gY4-39HS
