Stars are formed through a complex and fascinating process known as stellar birth. It begins in vast #molecular clouds composed of gas and dust, where fluctuations in density trigger gravitational collapse within localized regions. As these regions collapse under their own gravity, the temperature at their cores rapidly increases, leading to the ignition of nuclear fusion. This fusion of #hydrogen atoms releases an enormous amount of energy, causing the young star to shine brightly. Initially, stars exist as protostars, still surrounded by a rotating disk of leftover material from the molecular cloud. Over time, this excess material is either incorporated into the star itself or dispersed into space by powerful #stellar winds and radiation pressure. The exact characteristics of a star are determined by its initial mass; smaller stars like our Sun can burn for billions of years, while larger stars use up their fuel more quickly and ultimately undergo cataclysmic events such as #supernovae or even collapse into black holes. Understanding the formation of #stars sheds light on our own place in the #universe. This also provides valuable insights into the fundamental processes shaping #galaxies and #cosmic evolution. https://lnkd.in/dvup8f8D

UPDATE: Yet another step closer. As far as I understand (don't know about China), the information gather is shared between research institutions. Therefore: this isn't going to be a race to one world monopoly on Fusion, but rather freedom from energy dependence on other nations. Historically wars have been fought around resources, (using religion and other manipulations as tools, please don't quote me on this I may be wrong). What is the most valuable resource right now? Energy. I believe allowing every nation to be energy independent will be the next giant leap towards shedding our fur and climbing down from the branches of the metaphorical jungle we've been living in. Not to say this will solve all problem and create heaven on earth... but it's a step in the right direction. (Originally, I wrote, "It's a start", but realize how enormous of a lie that we be. Human lives are short compared to epochs, and though it may not seem like it; Humanity has been through much much worse. We have began making moves in the right direction for a long time (since when? I don't know.) We don't always do; and even when our intentions are good the outcomes are nothing like we invision (The road to hell is paved with good intentions? If really so, hell must be a hard place to get into with the constant construction just to keep traffic flowing). Call me a cautious optimist, but I believe we're going to make it. (To where? That's beyond this already overgrown snippet of information that it intended** to be) **intended... guess I should start getting prepared for being stuck in constant traffic. Happy slightly belated New Year Everybody!

Tiktok's Ms. Nuclear Energy Is Winning Over Nuclear Energy Skeptics MIT's Kaylee Cunningham using her training as a PhD student in nuclear science and engineering to dispel myths which continue to plague the industry & pushing a pro and educative nuclear energy outlook. One TikTok a time as her chosen powerful nuclear energy medium. To achieve its net zero energy goals, a representative from the University of Reykjavik balked at Cunnigham’s suggestion of including a nuclear option in the alternative energy mix. “The response I got was that we’re a peace-loving nation, we don’t do that,” Cunningham needed a platform to clarify on misconceptions on nuclear energy & made a TikTok that targeted misinformation. Overnight she garnered 10,000 followers and “Ms. Nuclear Energy” was off to the races. Ms. Nuclear Energy is now Cunningham’s TikTok handle. Her ability to digest “complex topics into something understandable to people who have no connection to academia” has helped Cunningham on TikTok. “It’s been something I’ve been doing all my life with my parents and siblings and extended family,” she says. Punctuating her video snippets with humor — a Simpsons reference is par for the course — helps Cunningham break through to her audience who love her goofy and tongue-in-cheek approach to the subject matter without compromising accuracy. Main objective & outcome is to educate on all misinformation on the demonisation of nuclear energy by misinformation on media/social platforms. Her advocacy includes encourage young people toward a nuclear science or engineering career. “If we’re going to start putting up tons of small modular reactors around the country, we need people to build them, people to run them, and we need regulatory bodies to inspect and keep them safe,” Cunningham points out. “ And we don’t have enough people entering the workforce in comparison to those that are retiring from the workforce,” Her advoacy has attracted high school girls looking for advice on pursuing nuclear energy studies. All the activism is in service toward a clear end goal. “At the end of the day, the fight is to save the planet & nuclear power is the best chance we’ve got to fight climate change and keep our planet alive.” Cunningham https://lnkd.in/dQkHg2RM Video: here https://lnkd.in/dQgG28p4 #nuclearenergy Massachusetts Institute of Technology #cleanenergy #climatechange #stemforgirls #smrs #womeninnuclear

It's absolutely mind-blowing how much personal resilience Albert Einstein has had!.. I came by a YouTube video that explain Einstein's life journey in just about 10 minutes, and it's indeed mind-blowing what he went through. Yet he managed to overcome these things without losing his will to live and natural curiosity, which ultimately led to his fantastic contributions to science. These days I find many people talking about resilience, both personal, and professional, and how to achieve that. I think one way is to learn how other people did so successfully (as we learn in many other contexts). So if you are interested in learning more, I encourage you to take the first step and spend 10 minutes of your time reflecting on the Albert Einstein's journey!
