In the U.S., ovarian cancer ranks sixth in cancer deaths among women, accounting for more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive system. Even though there is no known way to prevent ovarian cancer, you can lower the chance of getting it: 1. Having used birth control pills for five or more years 2. Having given birth 3. Breastfeeding 4. Gynecologic surgery, such as tubal ligation and hysterectomy (only for medical reasons) 5. A healthy lifestyle In this Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, join us in the fight against ovarian cancer by supporting innovative research and spreading awareness! https://lnkd.in/egA25rnh Read more: https://lnkd.in/e-umTWQC #OvarianCancerAwareness #ovariancancer #cancerresearch #cancerprevention #support #innovation #health #lifestyle #womenhealth #NFCR #makecurespossible

**Patient Awareness Series: Navigating Urinary and Sexual Rehabilitation After Robotic Prostate Surgery** **Robotic prostate surgery**, also known as robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy, is a minimally invasive approach to treating prostate cancer. While this advanced surgical technique offers numerous benefits, including faster recovery and reduced risk of complications, patients should be aware of the importance of urinary and sexual rehabilitation post-surgery. Here's what you need to know: **Urinary Rehabilitation:** Following robotic prostate surgery, patients may experience changes in urinary function as the body adjusts to the surgical intervention. Common urinary symptoms include: 1. **Urinary Incontinence:** Some patients may experience temporary urinary leakage or incontinence, particularly during activities such as coughing, sneezing, or lifting. 2. **Urinary Urgency:** It's not uncommon for patients to experience a sense of urgency or frequency in urination during the early stages of recovery. 3. **Slow Stream:** Patients may notice a slower urine stream or difficulty initiating urination immediately after surgery. To facilitate urinary rehabilitation, patients are often advised to: - Perform pelvic floor exercises, such as Kegels, to strengthen the muscles that control bladder function. - Follow a gradual return to normal activities while avoiding heavy lifting or strenuous exercise. - Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy lifestyle to support urinary function. **Sexual Rehabilitation:** Robotic prostate surgery can impact sexual function, particularly in terms of erectile function and ejaculation. While recovery varies from patient to patient, it's essential for individuals to: - Have realistic expectations regarding sexual function post-surgery and communicate openly with their healthcare provider about any concerns. - Explore options for sexual rehabilitation, including medications, vacuum erection devices, and counseling, if needed. - Give themselves time to adjust and focus on overall recovery before expecting full sexual function to return. **By raising awareness and providing support for urinary and sexual rehabilitation after robotic prostate surgery, we aim to empower patients to navigate their post-operative journey with confidence and resilience.** Remember, you're not alone—your healthcare team is here to support you every step of the way. #ProstateHealth #RoboticSurgery #UrinaryRehabilitation #SexualHealth #PatientSupport #ProstateCancerRecovery
