While this advanced surgical technique offers numerous benefits, including faster recovery and reduced risk of complications, patients should be aware of the importance of urinary and sexual rehabilitation post-surgery. Here's what you need to know: **Urinary Rehabilitation:** Following robotic prostate surgery, patients may experience changes in urinary function as the body adjusts to the surgical intervention. Common urinary symptoms include: 1. **Urinary Incontinence:** Some patients may experience temporary urinary leakage or incontinence, particularly during activities such as coughing, sneezing, or lifting. 2. **Urinary Urgency:** It's not uncommon for patients to experience a sense of urgency or frequency in urination during the early stages of recovery. 3. **Slow Stream:** Patients may notice a slower urine stream or difficulty initiating urination immediately after surgery. To facilitate urinary rehabilitation, patients are often advised to: - Perform pelvic floor exercises, such as Kegels, to strengthen the muscles that control bladder function. - Follow a gradual return to normal activities while avoiding heavy lifting or strenuous exercise. - Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy lifestyle to support urinary function. **Sexual Rehabilitation:** Robotic prostate surgery can impact sexual function, particularly in terms of erectile function and ejaculation.
