🥈 “GOOD PRACTICES IN LUNG CANCER MULTI-DISCIPLINARY TEAMS” 🥇 ✒ The whitepaper “Good Practices in Lung Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs)” is now published as part of AstraZeneca’s MDT Aid Program (MAP). ⏰ This is the result of almost two years of work in which oncologists, radiotherapists, surgeons and other lung cancer specialists, with the support of Vintura, collaborated to identify the best journey for  patients with lung cancer, starting from how the patient is treated within their own hospital. 🎤 From the interviews and the workshops, it is clear there is still great variability in how teams works in US, Canada, Europe and China. . 📊 I hope that the MAP can help standardize procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer in all hospitals.   🤝 Thanks to my colleagues at Astrazeneca and Vintura for involving me in this extraordinary project and thanks to all the doctors and institutions who dedicated their time and clinical experience to reviewing the paper.   📔 Below, the link to the white paper.   https://lnkd.in/er7dspAC #LungCancer #MDTAidProgram #HealthcareInnovation #collectiveintelligence #Vintura

I am in Barcelona now, and there is a Congress going on here these days that is truly remarkable—the ESMO Congress 2024. The ESMO Congress is one of the world's leading oncology conferences, bringing together top professionals and researchers to discuss the latest advancements in cancer treatment and care. This year, the focus is on some of the most pressing topics in the field, including precision medicine, immunotherapy, and personalized cancer care. Notable speakers like Dr. Peters Solange, Dr. Antoni Ribas, and Dr. Josep Tabernero MD, PhD are leading discussions that will undoubtedly shape the future of oncology. The exchange of ideas and knowledge is palpable, even from outside the conference halls! Seeing Barcelona buzzing with such a concentration of brilliant minds dedicated to battling cancer is inspiring. By joining forces with 33 partners in the IDERHA consortium, we are on a mission to overcome the challenges in accessing, integrating and analysing health data to unlock its full potential for improving patient care and medical research.    IDERHA member Torsten Blum is a pulmonologist and thoracic oncologist. I recently attended the "Perspectivas em Oncologia" congress, a Portuguese scientific event that brought together national and international experts to discuss the future of cancer care, especially for breast cancer. It was great to hear about the advances in breast cancer research and treatment which offer renewed hope for women facing this disease. The congress also highlighted the importance of personalized care, psycho-oncological support, and communication between doctor and patient focusing the quality of life and overall survival provided by different treatment strategies. 🚀 It’s my duty and pleasure to continue to work every day and keep my commitment to improve healthcare system by supporting HCPs in Portugal. 💪 Together we can build a brighter future for women and families fighting this disease and help them to continue to live remarkable moments in their lives. Supporting the Wellbeing of Oncodriven Lung Cancer Patients Online: A Qualitative Study We're pleased to share details of the poster we presented last night at BRITISH THORACIC ONCOLOGY GROUP (BTOG) conference. Led by Professor Gini Harrison, EGFR+ UK Research Trustee, this project was a collaboration with ALK Positive Lung Cancer UK and the Ruth Strauss Foundation. The study focused on enhancing online support for patients with oncodriven lung cancer (see our conference poster → https://lnkd.in/eUtKvq5u). Our findings, underscoring the critical need for bespoke eHealth solutions to support wellbeing, will be featured in a special supplement of the Lung Cancer journal. ABOH Executive Director Nancy Torrison attended the annual Lung Cancer Precision Medicine Summit, led by Lungevity, in Washington, D.C., last week.
