Celebrating the talented Grade 12 students and recent graduates of Government High School (GHS) who showcased their exceptional skills at the 8th Annual Dinner and Show hosted by the Training Centre for the Disabled. Through GHS’s Hospitality Programme, these young individuals are gaining practical training in culinary arts and earning certifications like BahamaHost, positioning them for success in life beyond the classroom. This is a powerful example of why diversity in education matters. Not all students thrive in the same environments or are destined for the same paths, and that is the beauty of creating varied opportunities. By offering programs that include technical training, professional certifications, and real-world experiences, we give young people the chance to discover their passions, develop essential life skills, and explore career options that align with their unique strengths. Diversity in education is about meeting students where they are and helping them see where they can go. It is about ensuring that every young person—regardless of their interests, talents, or learning styles—can access opportunities to build meaningful and fulfilling futures. Really useful session feeding back to the Security Industry Authority Board and Non-Executive Directors about the challenges and opportunities facing the sector. It was clear during the session that there is a common sense of purpose to improve standards across the sector and I really hope the feedback provided by myself, Peter Harrison and Tom Lish, landed with them.
