On Monday 9 September, Erindale Vikings came alive with energy and celebration as we hosted our Life Members event, bringing together the incredible individuals who have supported us from the very beginning. The night was filled with laughter, heartfelt stories, and a strong sense of community that reminded us all of the spirit that makes Vikings so special. The event was a tremendous success, and we couldn’t be prouder of the turnout and the unforgettable memories shared. A huge thank you to our speakers: Tim Hutchinson, Vikings President; Anthony Hill, Vikings CEO; and Jim Shonk, Former Vikings President. We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to our Life Members. Your dedication and passion continue to be the foundation of our community, and we are grateful to each and every one of you for making this event truly memorable. On behalf of Glenbard North its an honor to cast the MAGIC SPELL of our fight song. There's something special us. Maybe its because we all came from dysfunctional families. We were crazy kids and full of mischief. Yet we looked after each other. Even the jocks, the burnouts, the nerds, the poor kids, the fat kids, teachers, and the greatest tag team of truency officers, the dean and vice principle, not to forget the coaches, secretary, nurse, cafeteria crew, Mr Marlow, Mr Faulk and everyone else who helped me on my journey. I am deeply grateful for our acquaintence. Thank You

Today, we pause to honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Memorial Day is not just a long weekend or a chance to fire up the grill. It’s a solemn reminder of the courage and selflessness displayed by countless individuals who laid down their lives so we can enjoy the liberties we often take for granted. Their bravery is the bedrock of our freedom, and their legacy is a beacon of hope and resilience. As someone deeply invested in leadership and community development, I find profound lessons in their sacrifice. Here are three key insights that resonate with me: 1️⃣ Courage in the Face of Adversity: True leadership shines brightest in challenging times. The bravery of our fallen heroes teaches us that facing adversity head-on, with unwavering resolve, is the hallmark of a great leader. In our professional lives, let’s channel this courage to tackle obstacles and drive innovation. 2️⃣ Selflessness and Service: The ultimate act of giving is to put others before oneself. This selflessness is a cornerstone of effective leadership and community building. Let’s strive to create environments where we support and uplift each other, fostering a culture of mutual growth and success. 3️⃣ Legacy of Impact: The sacrifices of our heroes remind us that our actions today shape the world of tomorrow. In our careers and personal lives, let’s focus on creating a positive, lasting impact. Whether it’s mentoring a colleague, leading a project, or driving community initiatives, every effort counts. On this Memorial Day, let’s reflect on these lessons and honor the memory of those who gave all. Take a moment to recognize the contributions of individuals in your network who embody these values. Give them a shoutout, connect them with others, and help amplify their impact. Let’s make this Memorial Day not just a day of remembrance, but a day of action and appreciation. If this post resonates with you, please give it a like, leave a comment sharing your thoughts, or repost to spread the message. Together, we can honor the past and inspire the future. #ThoseThatGaveAll #USA #AmericaTheBeautiful #Sacrifice #Leadership #Community #Inspiration

As we approach Memorial Day, a solemn day of remembrance and reflection, it's disheartening to see the usual trend of retailers remaining open, prioritizing profits over pause. While I understand the dynamics of commerce, this day should be an exception. It's a day to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms, not a day for sales and revenue. Equally conflicting are the posts that will soon flood our feeds, offering thanks to our veterans while simultaneously promoting profit-generating activities. This dichotomy does not sit well with me. Memorial Day is not just another holiday; it's a day of national reverence. I urge businesses and individuals alike in the future, to consider the true meaning of this day. Let's dedicate it to genuine reflection and honor, not to the pursuit of profit. Let's show our respect not just in words but in actions that align with the spirit of Memorial Day. #MemorialDay #Honor #Reflection #Respect 🇺🇸🫡

Lessons learned from Mr. D: 1. Tell your family how much you love them multiple times a day. 2. Keep the door of your home open to friends and family for a great meal and cold drink. 3. Keep the pool ice cold, not sure why but it's super memorable. 4. Coach and volunteer in your town. 5. Always be willing to drive kids home after practice, regardless of how far from your home they live. 6. Love and respect your country and neighbors no exceptions Happy Memorial Day!
