People often use the term “two men in a pickup truck” to describe small contracting businesses. But the term doesn’t mean the same thing today as it used to. These days when people use that term, they're standing on 100-plus years of technology, evolution and standardization. In the time since then, Coatings Unlimited has gone from those two men in a truck to a Midwest coatings specialist to a nationwide services provider that touches every corner of the U.S. economy. Just as the meaning of “two men in a truck” has evolved, Coatings Unlimited has, too. It’s how we’ve been able to carry the business into its 70th year and third generation of leadership. And the evolution continues…

I am honoured and humbled to be quoted on the front page of today's Boston Globe. The first sentence is not how I would describe myself (!) but the subsequent discussion of seatbelt compliance is important and timely.

CEO @ Ameriton Freight & Logistics | Supply Chain Consultant in Transportation Management | Inspirational Speaker
Honoring Black Innovators and Leaders in Transportation I would like to introduce Samuel Moore. Moore is best known for his invention of the self-directing headlight in 1926. He also holds patents for the vehicle-headlight mechanism in 1928, the locomotive headlight; and the fuel valve lock for motor vehicles in 1935. The Inspiration: Samuel L. Moore's inspiration for inventing the self-directing headlight stemmed from his desire to address a common safety concern faced by drivers: limited visibility at night, especially around curves and bends in the road. Moore recognized the inherent danger of inadequate illumination and sought to devise a solution that would enhance nighttime driving safety for all motorists. The How: Moore designed the self-directing headlight system through a combination of innovative engineering principles and mechanical ingenuity. In essence, Moore's inspiration stemmed from a desire to innovate and make a positive impact by addressing a pressing safety issue in the automotive industry, ultimately leading to the creation of his groundbreaking self-directing headlight system. #freight #experience #analytics #supplychain #supplychainmanagement #supplychainsolutions #logisticscompany #logistics #shippers #imports #everythingfreight #smallbusiness #environmentalsustainability #environmentallyfriendly #sustainability #oceanfreight #refrigerated #warehousing #drayage #intermodal #oceanfreight #blackhistory

“If you want to be successful, you need to make sure to solve your customers’ problems and help them save money” In 2022, Paul Gustavsson, Group CEO of Vexve Armatury Group, told us an anecdote about how to gain the customers’ trust. “When I worked at Arthur D. Little, we did an interesting project of analyzing what makes a subcontractor successful and evaluated the 100 largest Swedish subcontractor companies in automotive. Most profitable was a smaller sheet metal company that could boast a 25% margin. When you look closer at what made the company so successful, it turns out that the owner, who was a dedicated pilot, often flew to Gothenburg and visited Volvo with his prototypes. He discussed with his customers on-site and helped them solve their problems. If you want to be successful, you need to make sure to solve your customers' problems and help them save money.” Read the full interview with Paul: https://lnkd.in/gst7h8TZ #interimmanagement #ceo #success #business #bestadvice
