🌍 Is Direction Important? 🧭 When I was studying at CIT Polytechnic, my math teacher used to tell a wonderful example. There was a guy named Vijay who wanted to go from Tirupur to Chennai. He was waiting at the railway station, and when the train arrived, he quickly got on board. But after just one hour, everyone started getting off the train. Vijay was confused and asked someone outside where they were. To his surprise, he had boarded a train going from Chennai to Coimbatore instead of going to Chennai. Vijay's mistake is something many of us can relate to. Sometimes, we go in the wrong direction and then wonder why we can't achieve our goals. The truth is, going in the right direction is essential for success. Just like Vijay needed to be on the right train to reach Chennai, we need to be on the right path to achieve our dreams. When we're headed in the right direction, we can make better choices, find opportunities, and overcome obstacles. A2 Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I want to share a journey that felt like an impossible challenge, not just to me but to many. It all began in January 2023 when I decided to attend physical classes at IIT Delhi while working a full-time job based in Jaipur, with a distance of around 280 km between the two cities. My original plan was to get some rest on the overnight bus journey from Jaipur, leaving at 12:00 midnight and reaching Delhi at 6 AM. However, as the journey unfolded, it became clear that getting any sleep was a rarity. The buses, often delayed in Jaipur, consistently arrived ahead of schedule at their destinations, turning what seemed like a 6-hour journey into a mere 4 hours. I received mixed feelings, suggestions, and cautionary tales from people warning me about the challenges of juggling two demanding commitments. These stories made me question if I had made the right decision, but I chose to embrace the challenge. Over 65 days, covering a staggering 36,500 km round trip by bus—almost equivalent to circumnavigating the globe—I successfully completed the task. The journey was filled with uncertainties, presenting challenges like severe cold, dense fogs, cyclones, instances of violence in Nuh, road constructions, traffic diversions, bus cancellations, waterlogging near Dharuhera and surrounding areas, and even breakdowns. Despite these obstacles, I navigated through them all without much sleep. I am thrilled to share that I have conquered the first and most arduous step of my Ph.D. journey—the coursework—with a commendable CGPA of 8.0. Although there is still a long road ahead, I intend to keep you all posted on the small milestones that feel like significant achievements to me.
