It was a pleasure welcoming David Marriott and Carla Murray during their recent visit to Scottsdale!
During my recent trip to Scottsdale, Arizona, I had the pleasure of touring several hotels around the city with Carla Murray, President, U.S. Western Region, Full Service MxM Marriott International hotels. I met associates and members of the executive committee from W Scottsdale, which is under the leadership of Todd Iacono. The hotel, which is undergoing renovations, has added a new collection of high-end suites and a WET deck bar featuring Arizona’s only chilled pool — yes, it gets that hot. We also got a glimpse of The Ritz-Carlton Paradise Valley, The Palmeraie, a dual-branded hotel that also offers whole ownership, luxury residences. Although the hotel is still under construction, it has started to open its one-of-a-kind villas to residential owners — marking an important milestone for Ritz-Carlton Residences. General Manager Steven Szenasi is part of a terrific team of leaders helping to bring this luxury property to life and I’m looking forward to joining them again when the hotel portion of the property officially debuts. Carla and I wrapped up our tour by visiting The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, which recently opened a new restaurant called Faro & Brag. The restaurant is named after a pair of card games that predated poker, serving up modern dishes inspired by the spirit of the Wild West. To my surprise, the kitchen staff went off-menu to create a mini version of their specialty, The Brag Burger, along with a root beer float. It was as delicious as it looks! While I’ve been to Scottsdale many times over the years, it continues to evolve and grow.
