Australia is an energy superpower, exporting 90% of gas and using 2% domestically. Here we have more gas than any other country on the planet. We send it to every other place in Asia so they can have cheap gas and we don't do anything to protect ourselves. The whole system is broken and this transition to this clean energy future is going to gutter us. The Australian swamp is the bureaucracy. It doesn't change. The LNP can get in, the labour party but the bureaucracy doesn't change. Someone's got to get in there with sledge hammer and break that all up! 💪🙏 Wow...when Australians speak truth and wisdom such as this, it gives me hope that all is not lost!! This should be our future! Brazil is on the brink of a transformative era in its offshore energy sector, with the Equatorial Margin emerging as the next frontier. This vast region promises to catapult Brazil to the forefront of global oil and gas production, offering immense opportunities for job creation, economic growth, and regional development. Recent studies by the National Industry Observatory of the National Industry Confederation (CNI) reveal the staggering potential of the Equatorial Margin. With projections indicating the capacity to generate over 300,000 new formal jobs and inject billions into the Brazilian GDP, the socioeconomic benefits are undeniable. Beyond economic gains, production in the Equatorial Margin presents a pathway toward green economy transition, infrastructure advancement, and inclusive development. However, strategic planning, governmental action, and environmental stewardship are imperative for sustainable progress. As stakeholders converge to capitalize on Brazil’s offshore bounty, collaboration and innovation will be key. The part of it that stood out to me was: it is “prohibited for a person to promote a fossil fuel” in a manner that suggests it would “lead to positive outcomes in relation to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.” This would make the organization I lead, the Indigenous Resource Network, a target. Our mandate is to promote Indigenous participation in, and benefits from, resource development, which to us includes the tens of thousands of Indigenous people involved in the oil and gas sector." Dear friends, watch and share this video produced by Greenpeace International and The People’s Health Tribunal.  This video tells the story of how communities stood up to big fossil fuel companies, Shell and TotalEnergies. These companies have harmed people’s health and the environment through their oil and gas projects for decades. The video shares how communities are calling for justice and repair for the damage done. We know that climate justice must include justice, based on community aspirations and systemic change away from colonial extractivism. From the Niger Delta to the EACOP pipeline, communities are facing displacement, violence and ecological destruction at the hands of extractive industries. Across Africa and the world, communities are demanding justice for the harm caused by @Shell and @TotalEnergies ✊ In May 2023, twelve courageous voices from The People’s Health Tribunal  bore witness to the transgressions of Shell and TotalEnergies in Africa. I'm having a baby with my beautiful partner and we are thrilled to soon becoming parents 💕 But, during her pregnancy, we've discovered that Denmark is about to approve the petrochemical giant INEOS' plans to extract up to 67 million barrels of oil and 3.5 billion Nm3 of gas until 2050 from the so-called Hejre Field in the North Sea. This amounts to up to 35 mio. tons of CO2 emissions directly in the atmosphere that our child will be living in. Denmark generally loves to portray itself as a green country to the outside world. Our country is among other things of the architects behind the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance that requires its members to stop licensing new oil and gas projects. This alliance is a very good idea! But the green country narrative is clearly fake as long as Denmark keeps expanding oil & gas production in the North Sea. More troubling, Denmark is right now at risk of undermining the Beyond Oil and Gas alliance if the Hejre Field is approved 💔 Therefore, a group of citizens have started organizing against new oil & gas production in Denmark in a movement called Fossilfri Fremtid. Although it can sometime be very difficult to find hope, we must insist on stopping the oil & gas madness and a rapid and just shift to renewables. We need to insist on a better and more just future for all. First step is for us to stop our governments from giving out new licenses to fossil fuels.
